You can tell I had fun writing this post because I breathe fashion. And truth be told, call it trivial but dressing up while working from home during this lockdown challenged me to stay focused, positive and creative. There is no dress code to follow hence it allows me to go outside my comfort zone (which is basically wearing black year-round). It goes without saying that I am now determined to introduce more colors to my wardrobe. Fancy meeting you, spring and summer hues! This post is quite picture-heavy, I hope it inspires you to shop your own closet and think outside the box.

THE “I ARRIVED AT THE RESORT” OUTFIT

Kaftan is one of the most versatile outfit you should own in your closet. While it can be worn as swimwear coverup for the most part, it can also function as a blouse. Paired with jeans for a more relaxed vibe or dressy pants for a smart-casual look, it screams effortless chic my friend. I thrifted this top from Therealreal. The fringe jeans are from Nordstrom (old pair) and the turban headband was purchased from Ulta last year. I made the amethyst necklace myself and the earrings I believe are from Anthropologie (old pair). Of course Winkles my baby a.k.a executive assistant has to be in her mama’s photo shoot.

THE “LET’S HANG OUT BY THE BEACH” OUTFIT

Tie-dye print has made a glorious comeback! Channel your inner boho with a pair of harem jumpsuit. The material is soft and it’s the comfiest outfit to wear while lounging. I influenced my sister to buy this from Amazon and just rock the whole resort look. I will continue to wear this all through summertime and beyond. I’m wearing size small (smallest size in stock) and as you can see, it runs pretty big. The straps are adjustable so for petite ladies like me, you can definitely pull them up to reveal your feet. I love wearing hats and this straw fedora is a keeper. I got it from Hautelook two years ago and it’s still in great shape! I am wearing two different styles of earrings in the above photos but both were purchased locally. The one at the very top from a Bite squad driver who delivered my food last year. I saw her wearing a koa wood pair so I asked her where she got it. It turned out she made it herself so I told her I am going to purchase. I kept my word. The other pair I am wearing was a recent purchase as featured from my previous post. I saw a TV ad here in Hawaii promoting a “pop up” online shop featuring local businesses affected by pandemic so I hurriedly made a purchase. I’m all for supporting local businesses!

THE ” MEET ME AT THE LUAU” OUTFIT

These side-slit pants are actually yoga pants. Another cute piece whether for lounging, doing yoga or in this case, a resort piece. I paired it with a flowy kimono given to me by my mom. I tied the front to give it an interesting twist. You can wear swimsuit or a tank top just like what I did. I’m wearing my handmade sodalite necklace and pair of koa wood earrings which I purchased from a local shop 3 or 4 years ago.

THE “LET’S STROLL THE TOWN SQUARE” OUTFIT

And Winkles wants to join her mama again. I am wearing a white long-sleeved cotton tee and pair of old jeans here for a laidback vibe. I love animal print so I paired my leopard print sandal with a scarf which I wore as headband. I am also wearing my own handmade tourmaline earrings and onyx necklace bought from Etsy. I layered it with a druzy pendant, a purchase from a long time ago. You can’t go wrong with basic white tee and jeans.

THE “VACATION IS OVER” OUTFIT

For this look, I am wearing black tunic with embroidery details paired with white cropped jeggings. This top always gets me compliment every time I wear it. My friend likes it so last Christmas, I gifted her the same tunic, she was thrilled! Let’s talk about this chandelier earrings; so I deconstructed a tacky-looking necklace and with a little twist here and and some bend there, voila, fabulous earrings for ya! I know, what’s up with the name of this look, haha! well my lockdown vacation is nearly over as I am preparing to go back to work sometime soon. I will miss dressing up because the new normal for me would be wearing N95 mask and face shield for close contact procedures I will be doing at our medspa. But with a creative mind, I know there’s always a solution to express my style.
