Leopard print in the thick of summer. Why wait for fall when you can rock it now?
My theme for my birthday was leopard print. I know I wear this pattern a lot but yesterday July 4, I went a little overboard. From my hair clip to jumpsuit to sandals, I unleashed the inner beast, fashionably to say the least, haha! Life is short so have fun even in the most mundane circumstance. To give it a summer-ish touch, I wore my wide-brimmed hat (my husband calls it jeepers creepers hat). Well, I’m all about sun protection! My makeup too was more colorful than what I usually rock, and you know what? I love it! Your friend is officially 45 and to be honest with you, it was one of the best celebrations I’ve had even though it’s kind of low-key. I received a good mix of gifts from my loved ones: makeups, nail polish, shimmer body oil, artisanal teas, vegan snacks, pantry essentials, and many more. Last week, I had a great facial (which explains my glowing skin) and acupuncture to help with my sleep. Suffice to say that I have been enjoying my birthday weekend despite the stress I have been dealing with lately.
My celebration started last Tuesday with a hearty lunch at Goma Tei (you can see my “lady in red” outfit from this post). Goma Tei is a Japanese restaurant located inside the posh International Market Place at downtown Honolulu. I love their veggie tan tan ramen which can be veganized upon request while husband was on a roll with their vegetable fried rice which can be veganized as well. One “tradition” I started is to watch Tammy (starring my favorite actress Melissa Mccarthy) which to me is the best 4th of July movie. This is the 5th year since I first saw that movie and the hilarity never gets old.
Another “tradition” is to satisfy my sweet tooth during my birthday. Indulge for a day or two. No photos but I do love the vegan blackberry croissant from a local deli here. I also picked up a vegan and gluten-free berry pie and coconut milk based ice cream.
For my actual birthday lunch, we ordered at Cheesecake Factory. Yes, they have vegan options that are on the menu. I love their vegan cobb salad while husband was pretty impressed with their Impossible burger (note: request to omit the cheese and sauce so it’s completely vegan). The place is packed so I’m glad to have called in my order first thing in the morning.
So let’s go to my makeup, here are the products I used:
You’ve seen me raved Andalou BB SPF 30 so it’s kind of predictable to see it again here. Light dewy coverage, enough to even out complexion without the tacky-greasy feel.
A new addition is Tarte creaseless concealer. I don’t usually use concealer but I found this really nice as well. No creasing indeed under the eyes. I also use it as eye primer.
This colorful palette from IBY was part of my Vegan Cuts summer makeup box (reviewed here). I love it! I don’t wear bold colors but hey ’twas my birthday so I glammed up!
The Hourglass ambient lighting palette has been featured here many times as well. I use the upper 3 shades to lightly dust my face with enviable glow without looking overly done.
Kat Von D eyebrow powder has been my default go-to to shape and fill in my brows.
Kat Von D setting powder (deluxe size) is part of Sephora VIB birthday gift Kat Von D (includes tattoo eyeliner deluxe size and lipstick sample sizes).
Kat Von D go big or go home mascara is one of Sephora’s 100-point claim system.
Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips in the shade pillow talk is the perfect MLBB (my lips but better).
Thanks to everyone for your heartfelt birthday greetings! I appreciate your friendship, love and support!!!!
