Vegan & Cruelty-Free Beauty from The Organic Skin Co

spring beauty routine vegan and cruelty-free

Hello beauties! Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to update my beauty routine: fresh and barely-there makeup with glowing skin! To welcome the exciting season ahead, I thought of giving my hair a fresh new take. Hello bangs! I cut them myself last Friday. My mom said I look 10 years younger, haha! Moms are biased, you know that. But even my husband likes it too so I guess I did a pretty decent job then.

In time for spring, I got introduced to The Organic Skin Co, a beauty company based out of New Zealand. Their ethos is deeply rooted on natural beauty and their products are mostly organic-derived. One admirable project that’s worth to mention is their partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, with main focus on reversing deforestation as well as providing jobs to local indigenous communities worldwide. For every product you purchase, the company pledge to plant one tree! In addition, all their products are cruelty-free and vegan (read: how to veganize your beauty stash)

Notice the “glowing from within” look in the above photos? I attribute it to Primp N’ Prime. Infused with organic amla berry and pomegranate extracts, this primer-moisturizer has quite a sheen finish to it. There are two shades, lunar and rose gold. I have rose gold which is very lightly tinted and blends nicely with my complexion.

Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, propanediol, cetearyl alcohol, vegetable glycerine*, magnesium stearate, glyceryl stearate citrate, glyceryl monostearate, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, aqua (water), lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) supercritical extract, xanthan gum, citrus sinensis (sweet orange) essential oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, potassium sorbate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) supercritical extract, phyllanthus emblica (amla) berry supercritical extract*, punica granatum (pomegranate) seed supercritical extract*.

May contain colours titanium dioxide (CI 77891), iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492), mica (CI 77019).

As a lipstick lover, I am very much excited to try Lip Service which is devoid of parabens, bismuth and gluten. I have the shade Terra, a berry brown shade which is quite sheer but easily buildable. I like that it hydrates my lips and while this shade does not compliment my skin tone, I’d be interested to try their other shades (12 in total).

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, oriza sativa (rice bran) wax, copernicia certifera (carnauba) wax, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary)supercritical extract, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, punica granatum (pomegranate) supercritical extract, calendula officinalis (calendula) supercritical extract*.

May contain colours:
titanium dioxide (CI 77891), iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 7499), manganese violet (CI 77742), mica (CI 77019). * Organic Ingredient

Every time I mention that at low 60s here in Hawaii is super cold, my friends from the mainland laugh. I know, I’m all bundled up like there’s snow everywhere. But joking aside, this weather left me with dry patchy skin especially on my forehead so a Good Oil like this is a necessity. Look at the short list of ingredients, what you’re feeding your skin is as real as it gets.

Ingredients: Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, prunus dulcis (almond) seed oil, prunus armeniaca (apricot) seed oil, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower supercritical extract*, curcuma longa (turmeric) root supercritical extract*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) supercritical extract, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract.

I love love love your bangs! How do you get them to look piecey like that? I’m a fan of The Organic Skin Company. Their lipsticks are wonderful. They were supposed to send me something else to try, and I asked them for a cream eyeshadow. So far, it hasn’t arrived, but I hope it will!

Thanks Allison! I have 2 ways to do it but for my bangs, I used thinning shears (those with teeth). If you don’t have those, regular scissors will do but you will have to trim bangs upward after you cut horizontal to give it dimension. I want to try that cream eyeshadow as well

I wish I could trim my bangs. My cowlick pops up after just a few weeks. These products look great. Are they very fragranced?

Your bangs look great! And I love how the primer makes your skin glow. It can be so hard to get the right amount of glow without it looking oily, so this looks like it does a great job!
