So cute, I can’t even. This vegan backpack from a relatively new brand Niko Ineko had me feeling kawaii. From its boxy structure to pastel purple, this new eye candy acquisition is a breath of fresh air from all the neutral-toned vegan handbags I own so far.
This uber kawaii vibe transcends from my outfit to the final output of these photos. I am actually proud of these photos I personally took using my iPhoneX, trusted mini-tripod and bluetooth remote (read: how to take your own photos like a pro). And to think it all started with this backpack as my focal inspiration.
Based out of NYC, Niko Ineko was established in 2017 selling mainly vegan handbags. A quick browse of their website reveals artsy and bright colored bags made from faux leather. Not PVC but it’s unspecified if you check the material used. My wild and smart guess is PU. Neko means cat in Japanese hence explains the small kitty snout below the logo. Minute detail which made me smile from ear to ear.
As some of you know, I do have decent sized vegan handbag collection ranging from affordable to high end. I have a playlist of vegan handbags I have reviewed so far and some of you found them helpful. Sometimes I would ask my viewers for specific brands they want to me review, and Niko Ineko is one of those brands that keep popping up. So yes, I purchased this bag specifically with that intention and then fell in love the moment I unboxed it. You bet this being purple bit me hard (read: my top purples for 2018) ! So kawaii. How can you not?
So let’s talk about this sporty outfit. It’s actually my workout-slash-running-errands getup. It was quite windy last weekend so I thought a lightweight hoodie and joggers would be perfect for this backpack. My prescription glasses which happened to be pastel pink nude sealed the whole kawaii vibe (read: where I buy chic Rx eyeglasses). My metallic rose sneakers from Puma are old and worn out, they’re sold out and I’m not sure if they’re entirely vegan but I thought I’d still mention it in the spirit of transparency. When I sent one of these photos to my almost 70-year old mom (and still very fashionable at that), she mentioned that it looks like one of the scenes in a Korean telenovela. Could it be the hoodie? the glasses? the bag? But then again, if mom approves, daughter posts. Haha, we are a tandem like that.
