By now you are most likely aware that purple is the chosen pantone for 2018. I like purple but I don’t own a gamut of it, not with my predominantly black/gray wardrobe. But I have a few that I do love, hence my excitement with today’s Makeup Wars topic. So let’s start with the very obvious, lipstick!

I know you’ve seen me featured this bright purple lipstick from last week’s post but in case you missed it, this is from Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick collection. It’s called l.u.v. The formula is creamy, it applies like a breeze, has a nice delectable scent and most of all, it isn’t drying at all. I always get compliment each time I wear this shade so it is definitely a keeper (check out my other lipsticks from KVD).
If you caught my first beauty haul of the year, you may have an idea that I went crazy buying 100% Pure nail lacquers because they had a nail polish sale going on that time. This shade called Midsummer Night’s Dream is the best holo I own. Every time I look at my nails, I feel fancy and happy! Depending on lighting, it looks purple, blurple, berry purple. This also lasts four days before I notice obvious chipping, it’s quite a feat especially for someone like me who frequently wash and sanitize hands.
Fashion-wise, this pair of cat eye shades from Quay is really cute. I think it breaks my daily monochromatic outfit with shock value.

Ultraviolet, Pantone’s color of 2018, is a blue-based purple closest to your pretty nail polish, but you nailed it – it’s looks great when played against other purples especially those that skew toward pink like your lipstick and sunnies!

I think the purple lipstick you have on looks STUNNING with your gray/black work out/leisure outfit. I think on you it’s a neutral because you have an exotic look, skin tone, eye shape. You wear it well…I don’t think, IMO, that you ever have to worry about you, a purple lipstick and your black and gray “collection”.

I used to be sooo into purple back in the day when I started playing with makeup. I think it’s fun that it’s being brought back now, especially in the form of blue-based purple which is my favorite for eyeshadows. Good purple shadows can be hard to find though, I hope Pantone inspires brands to develop some great ones!
