Liquid lipstick has to be the most-hyped and widely-bought makeup in 2016; almost every brand, from indie to mainstream, drugstore to luxury, launched every shade there is to entice all liquid lipsticks aficionados, moi included. Marc Jacobs Beauty recently introduced its Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme collection with six shades in it. I have Hot Cocoa (warm peachy brown) and Truth or Bare (dusty rose pink), scroll down for the complete scoop!
Slightly fragrant (hint of vanilla) and presented in black and slender tube, these lippies have the standard doe foot applicator. I particularly like the circular “window” which allows you to see the color from the outside. Each retails for $28, definitely pricier than Anastasia Beverly Hills and Smasbox Always on Matte, which I have raved about endlessly on the blog.
Liquid lipstick is instantaneously associated with matte formula so when I swatched these, I was surprised that they were not! Per website description, “a hydrating, eight-hour liquid lipstick in a range of bold, full-coverage nudes in satin finish”. The luxurious liquid formula glides onto lips allowing it to look plump and full all day long”. While the creamy formula isn’t a letdown (think lipstick with lightweight feel of a gloss), the claim of eight-hour wear time vis-a-vis plump lips all day long is hyperbole. In my experience, the color is gone even after a very light meal. It also transfers on coffee mug/cup so treat the brand’s statement with a grain of salt. If you enjoy neutral, want to branch out to liquid lipstick that isn’t matte, and don’t mind touchups after a meal or two, you may appreciate this more than I do.
