The following are still part of my birthday haul last month which got shoved to the backend of my posting schedule, but ‘ey it’s better late than never, right? High-end meets drugstore, I think we have a story here, read on…

It’s been eons since I bought anything from Maybelline because to be honest, nothing really interests me but I’ve had good experience with the original color tattoo line so when I saw these eye chromes, I knew I had to pick some. Available in ten shades, I purchased Khaki Kool, Beige Luster and Bronze Sheen ($9.99 each, 0.11 fl oz/3.45 ml).
In a nutshell, these metallic eyeshadows are housed in tubes akin to lip gloss/ liquid lipstick. The formula is creamy and utterly opaque in one pass. There is a sponge doe foot applicator to dig the product out. You can either use it (1) to apply directly on the lids, then blend with finger/brush (2) or at the back of your hand, swipe with brush, then apply on the lids for a less patchy outcome. You can use it on its own or as base to intensify your eye makeup.
It claims to wear up to 24 hours but let’s be real, who wears makeup that long? With primer underneath, I get a good nine-hour sheen; without primer, I say about seven hours. Still not bad. Now here’s the con. I was expecting it to be easier to use and apply but since the formula tends to clump, I have to blend it well with finger, followed with flat eyeshadow brush. While I don’t mind doing the extra step, I don’t like the hassle when I’m pressed for time. In conclusion, I still prefer the original tattoo in pots.
When Urban Decay phased out the Revolution matte lipsticks, I felt quite sad because I love their non-drying formula. But with more color choices to boot (21 in all) and slightly improved texture, the new Comfort Matte line had me at hello! Retailing for $17 each, the price point vis-à-vis quality will seriously get you hooked.
Packaged like bullets, these colorful ammunitions are pucker-approved! I have Safe Word (peachy nude) and Notorious (purple), both beautiful whether swatched or worn. The tip hugs the lips perfectly sans dragging and all. I know I’m in a no-buying spree this month but I seriously want to add more!
Oh, I haven't been stalking the drugstore aisles lately so I totally missed the Color Tattoo Chromes. Too bad they're a bit patchy to apply but I will pick up Khaki Cool for sure to try. Do they feel dry on your eyelids? A lot of the liqui-cream shadows are uncomfortable for me to wear even over primer on my dry eyelids, so I'm always wary. The UD Vice lippies are gorgeous. I am waiting for the 20% off at Ulta this fall to pick up a few, probably the satin finish but your peachy-nude sure is pretty!
Hi Allison, good question. I have oily lids so I don't feel like it's dry although if you use it as a base for eyeshadow, it does look somewhat "wrinkly". I'll wait for the sale too, either Ulta or Sephora
I actually was thinking about those Maybelline today. My problem with Color Tattoo is that they dry out making it hard to apply. I think this formula would last longer. I'll start with one though in case they don't look right on my older eyes.
Yeah, just try one with one and see if you'll like the formula better
Ooh I really like the Beige Luster Color Tattoo and the Notorious lippie! Great picks!
I haven't tried any of their comfort mattes yet, but I really want to. Those shades you picked are lovely!
Those lipstick shades! My two favouite kinds of colours.
Ahh those Vice lipsticks look amazing! I definitely loved the revolution lime buy will have to pick up a few of the Vice xD
I really want Notorious!
