How do you pack your makeup when you travel? I mean, do you carry copious amount or just stick with the basics? I’m all for keeping it light and simple, just like how the creators of Stowaway  Cosmetics conceptualized the brand. Scroll down for full details and swatches of the recently released The Essential Eye Palette and see if it deserves extra space in your purse.

Stowaway Cosmetics The Essential Eye Palette

Literally the size of a credit card, this eye shadow palette retails for $25 and features eight neutral shades (4 mattes, 4 shimmers). The case is made with plastic with rubberized texture and clicks open to a mirror and small double-ended brush (angled and flat). Personally, I find the price on the high side considering the minuteness of the palette and total net weight which amounts to 0.012 oz/ 35 g. Quality-wise, the shades’ formula is comparable to Pixi (“luxe drugstore”) and save for the shimmers which have minor fallout issue (readily fixed by applying it wet), they are easy to blend.

Stowaway Cosmetics The Essential Eye Palette Review Swatch

Because this palette is made for women-on-the-go, I see it as being a travel companion more than vanity essential (i.e for touch-ups inside the car, in the office or when out and about partying). From the brand Stop compromising on your makeup! Stowaway makes it easier to feel #beautifulanywhere. Half the size of standard cosmetics, Stowaway products are designed to be finished before they expire. Finally, you can buy makeup you love in sizes you can carry! Founded by Chelsa Crowley and Julie Fredrickson on the philosophy that makeup should fit into your life, Stowaway knows that you’re on-the-move, and your beauty products are too. Our portable sizes are not only convenient but allow us to create premium, safe products. Since the products are designed to be finished before they expire, they don’t contain harmful preservatives. You can count on us to be paraben-, phthalate-, and cruelty-free.”

Here’s a minimalistic makeup featuring Stowaway The Essential Eye Palette.

In this cutthroat makeup industry, it is hard to compete against the giant and virtually omnipresent brands (luxury, high end, drugstore) so having a unique selling proposition significantly helps startup or independent brands like Stowaway to thrive. You can check out the entire product line here (offhand, I am interested to try the lipstick and beauty balm!)

  • That's a gorgeous palette!

  • I liked the Stowaway minis that I tried last year. I think they were smart to come out with a palette. I'd like a bit more pigmentation, but love the cool tones in that palette

  • Trish McEvoy makes palettes this size (or at least they used to) for much more money. I was happily surprised to see how smooth and easily these applied. If I were single this would be my best friend since it would be so easy to take with for touchups.

  • I've never tried this brand but I love the look of that palette! Perfect for a sultry smokey eye!

  • I love the shade selection in this little guy, very pretty!

  • I am reading very good reviews on this line. That palette looks perfect for travel.

  • I don't carry any makeup with me, well – lip balm only usually or my back up of lipstick. I remember a few years ago I would carry a ton of stuff, but I hardly use makeup as much now a days. I have been absolutely loving Stowaway goodies and am excited to write and share about them.
