How’s your summer so far? planning on going somewhere to escape the sweltering heat and crazy humidity? If you recall, I had mini staycation few weeks ago frolicking at the beach, so much so that I tanned! And yeah, I love every bit of it. Now call it perfect timing because I really do plan to self-tan (& relive my everyday-beach-dont-care) so when I received Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse, you bet I was smiling ear to ear!

Recently launched, this self-tanner is sold with mitt (as photographed, $54, $60.50 retail value, limited edition, online only) or without mitt ($54). It has three color/intensity choices: fair, medium, dark. I received medium which has the right amount of pigment that suits my recently-tanned complexion. For reference, my face is naturally darker than the rest of my body, with my legs looking like a shark bait (as my hubs call it) as they are fair overall. It’s mousse-type and appears foamy once dispensed from the bottle.
From the brand “pHenomenal mousse leaves skin beautifully tanned, amazingly nourished, and healthy-looking for up to two to three weeks. The fast-absorbing mousse formula gives instant natural bronzing and develops to a deep, natural-looking tan. pHenO2 technology encourages a tan that lasts up to four times longer than regular tans with a patch-free, perfect fade. Certified organic botanicals and moisture locking technology give 72-hour hydration while Odour Remove™ technology ensures no smell whatsoever. The tan mitt included ensures a fast and easy, streak-free application and natural-looking result. Regardless of your natural skintone, choose Fair for a subtle glow, Medium for a golden bronze, and Dark for a deep tan. “
Depending on the brand, applying self-tanner is pretty much fool-proof, that is if you know the basics: exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Exfoliate the areas you plan to tan, with special attention to elbows, ankle, and hands because they do catch pigment more and if they are teeming with dead skin cells, uneven and patchy tan develops. Normally, I’d moisturize prior to application but with pHenomenal, instruction says don’t so I followed the advice to a T. Using the mitt to protect my hands from potential color transfer, I noticed that it did help spread the formula seamlessly. I start with my legs down, then thigh, arms, body, leaving my face as is since like I mentioned, it’s already dark. I find that reapplying twice gives me a lovely golden bronze effect. It’s not drying on the skin and not overwhelming on the olfactory sense. During the dry down/ absorption phase, it does emit a very faint caramel-like fragrance. While the claim says it typically lasts 2-3 weeks, I observed that after a week, the level of my “desired tan” regressed a bit but it could just be me… Me and my overly critical self. But on the plus side, no unsightly peeling though and since I committed myself to a summer of legs, I will continue to reapply or re-tan (as I call it) using pHenomenal!

Looks great! I rarely use self tanners. I'm just too darn lazy, lol!
I do not often use self-tanners, but you definitely got nice results!
Your tan looks so natural, wow!
I just got this, can't wait to try it!
I really thought of trying this but chickened out and gave it to my blog partner. She loves Vita Liberta and I can see why in your pictures.
You look fabulous! I'm not a self-tanner girl, but if I was going to try one, I'd look into this one. You really sold me on how perfect your results look.
I love Vita Liberata, it gives me a lovely glow and doesn't look oompa loompa on my fair skin. 😀
I don't use self tanners as much as I used to a few years ago, now a days – I get tanned just from walking into the sun. But, I think this one looks really nice and natural on you sis… defiitely something I would check out.
I am always so scared of self tanners! I really need to try them. I'm super white
