If there’s one brand I stalk season after season, Tom Ford tops by a mile. I know it sounds anti-climactic to spring but the summer Soleil Collection this year is so beautiful I have to get my hands on two items right away. Well at least for now, while self-debate whether to purchase more or not is ongoing. Makeup junkie? you know what I mean!
The summer collection for 2016 is rather extensive compared to prior seasons hence it’s easy to be carried away and blow your hard-earned benjamins in a flash. I settled for the giant compact (you’ll see why later), the Soleil Contouring Compact- The Afternooner and one shade from the new collection Moisturecore Lip Color, Carriacou. Ladies and gents, can we have a moment of silence and let this resplendent compact consume your mind and soul. Adoration is absolutely an understatement!
Housed in luxurious ivory and gold case, the Contouring Compact is trifecta redefined. Everything you need to add warmth and color to your face is included, generously served to satisfy your craving. It has bronzer, coral blush and nude highlighter, all in universally flattering shades which coordinate so beautifully! The texture is velvety-soft which effortlessly blends onto skin with enviable finish. Luxury, you do get what you pay for! The bronzer and blush are both matte. The highlighter adds dimension for a well-lit face summertime or not. Bigger than my hand, this limited edition compact has .70 oz/ 20 g worth of awesomeness, enough to keep me afloat for the whole year.

There are two collections in the lip category, the Moisturecore and Ultra-Rich. I decided on Moisturecore because it intrigued me the most; plus, Ultra-Rich’s packaging is similar to prior summer’s releases. Moisturecore Lip Color has six shades, I randomly chose Carriacou because I like the sound of it. Yes, that trivial because I know I can wear any color at this point in my life, haha! But did it turn out to be phenomenal? let’s scrutinize further.
The concept behind Moisturecore is captured it its packaging. The luminous lip color encapsulates a liquid core infused with passion fruit oil which provides superb hydration. Carriacou is nude peach which feels like lip balm. The case is slender than Tom Ford’s regular lip color line and the bullet tip is slanted. While I love the shade and moisture it provides, it did emphasize my lip lines. The color is sitting on every flake there is and the color is gone after 3 hours (in contrast to its claim “color that lasts for hours”). It could just be Carriacou for all you know. I’m a tad disappointed because I have raved about Tom Ford lippies in the past, but in all honesty, not everything wrapped in gold glitters so this particular shade is a fail for me.

Here are swatches of Contouring Compact and Moisturecore Lip Color Carriacou:
…and this is what I’m talking about, Goliath ha?
I used all three shades from the Contouring Compact for my cheeks/cheekbones. I have Carriacou on my lips. My eyeshadows were: Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color Naked Bronze generously applied and blended on lids (review here) and Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Nude Dip (darker shade on crease and lower lash line).
