Like liquid lipsticks, cream eyeshadows are my obsession. There’s something about the formula and ease of use that make me want to hoard every collection there is. My latest discovery? the Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Color. Sold in four stunning shades, I have Lagoon (holographic green) and Starfish (bronze maroon). Scroll down for more details, swatches and eye makeup photos.
A recent addition to Chantecaille, these cream eyeshadows claim to be crease-proof and water-resistant. Retailing for $34 (4g /14 oz), it’s in the same league as Chanel, Dior, and Burberry. Luxury, that’s what it is. But is it as good if not better? Offhand, I’d say that the texture is similar to Burberry Eye Colour Cream but applies like Chanel Illusion D’Ombre. Worn over eye primer and un-set with eyeshadow, it wears past eight hours with very minimal creasing (given that I have oily lids).
These potted cream eyeshadows are real eye candies. Both Lagoon and Starfish are holographic so depending on light exposure, they shift colors to your amazement. Lagoon tends to crumble when applied with flat eyeshadow brush so you may need to brush off some fallouts, not a big issue because the overall quality outweigh this minor flaw.
I mentioned ease of use because cream eyeshadows like these are great on their own. If you prefer simple monochromatic eye makeup, then these are you best bets for eye looks for under 2 minutes.
