With my extremely busy work schedule, my definition of relaxation is pretty pathetic: getting extra hour of sleep on weekends or just lounging in my jammies without having to think about work. But last Saturday, I broke this monotony and accepted the invitation to try the services of LATHER Spa. Located on the second floor of The Modern Honolulu hotel, I had an hour of bliss all to myself! Keep scrolling for more details and photos…

I arrived twenty minutes before my appointment to give myself some leeway to take photos and shower (even if I already showered before going), you know, just to soak in the entire spa experience.  The interiors of LATHER Spa is consistent with the overall appeal of The Modern Honolulu: sleek, chic and cozy. I was greeted by Amy who then escorted me to the changing area/ bathroom.

Feeling clean and doubly-freshed, Verley asked me to choose two oils for my massage. Torn due to several options, I settled for ylang ylang (relaxing) and geranium (balancing). After that, she escorted me to the massage room where the uber-relaxing warmed bed awaits moi.

The service I availed was Express Yourself (combination of back massage and facial). I honestly dosed off in the hands of Verley, what with the right amount of pressure and soothing strokes, combined with lightly-scented oils, ahhh nirvana! She also tackled my neck, head, shoulders, it’s so good, you need to ask for her when you book your appointment.

I told Verley I had laser treatment last week (skin resurfacing, more on that in a separate post) so she suggested to use products meant for sensitive skin for my facial. Semi-awake, this is the order she did it: cleanse, exfoliate, rinse, tone, mask, rinse, tone, spritz bulgarian rose water, moisturize). In between all of that, she was massaging my neck, head, décolletage and shoulder blades. I may have forgotten what else she did but my face was really glowing after!

Hawaii residents get 20% Kama’aina discount (I’m going back for sure). For more details, you can download the entire services here.
