Elizabeth Arden is a brand I’ve been meaning to revisit because I haven’t bought anything from them in eons so call it perfect timing because I had the opportunity to try not just one, but two of their skincare products: Superstart Skin Renewal Booster and Flawless Future Caplet Serum.

But you know what made me doubly ecstatic to see these beauties? the upbeat and modernized facelift for a century-old brand! I must admit, I associate Elizabeth Arden with the old and conservative market; not that it’s bad because whose ears am I pulling, this woman is an honoree of the 4-0 club, haha! But seriously, I’m a firm believer of “fix it even if it ain’t broke”, especially in the ever competitive beauty industry. So setting aside the unsolicited marketing perspective, let’s zero-in to my newfound favorites…
Superstart Skin Renewal Booster is simply a moisturizer which you can use on its own or in combination with your other skincare items such as serum or facial oils. It claims to boost skin’s natural defenses to rebuild itself, with the inclusion of key ingredients: botanical glasswort extract (reduces water loss int the surface of the skin), sea fennel and flaxseed extract (helps reinforce skin’s moisture barrier), probiotics complex (optimizes skin’s flora to strengthen its natural defenses). Experience-wise, I love the lightweight feel of this product. It goes on sheer and gets absorbed onto the skin quite fast without making it greasy. If you’re sensitive to fragrance, that’s something to consider but I find the floral aroma enticing so I wouldn’t change a single thing from the formula. The packaging is futuristic, at least that’s how I can best describe it. It has a latch on the back to close and dispense the product. I think it’s a great add-on to prevent spillage especially when you’re traveling.

Flawless Future Caplet Serum has mini-pearlized beads that are activated upon dispensing. It comes out liquid and dissolves onto face sans shimmer factor. Used in combination with Superstart, my face feels tauter and radiant. My favorite way of using this is to mix it with foundation (1:2 or 1 pump Flawless Future Caplet Serum, 2 pumps foundation) for a distinctively “glowy” effect.
