Ciate London Liquid Velvet | Risque and Sass Pot

Liquid lipsticks are all the rage lately and more and more brands are joining the bandwagon. Loud and wild, let’s further examine these two shades from Ciate London Liquid Velvet line, Risque (orange red) and Sass Pot (bright pink).

Packaged in a plastic tube, the color you see from the outside is consistently true inside. The formula is creamy and thick, similar to a melted crayon. Anastasia liquid lipstick (review here) and MAC retro matte liquid lipstick (review here) are more “liquid” by definition.

The doe foot sponge applicator deposits oodles of pigment in one swipe, enough to cover the entire lips without having to reapply repeatedly. It dries matte in about a minute or so and while I love the  attention these two shades render, I didn’t like how both accentuated my lip lines as they settle and sit in between. The wear time is relative to your activity; it’s gone after a meal, diminished when you dab facial tissue, intact when you leave it alone.

If you have less pronounced lip lines, I think you’ll enjoy the formula but given my propensity for bright shades, anything that takes away the beauty from it all is a letdown.

They are both very pretty on you, but it's definitely a bummer that they settle into lip lines!

I didn't know Ciate did makeup. Love the shades, but since they're matte and settle into lines, I must pass on these pretties. Great review!

I have tons of lip lines, so it looks like these would be a no go for me.

These lip colors both look so good on you. And I love how rich and creamy they are!

Those are super bright. Not good that they settle into lip lines though.

Those colors are so bold but I love them on you! I only have ciate polish. I can't have lippies that can't even hold up with a meal…. womp!

My issue with most liquid lippies are my fine lines too. These two shades are gorgeous though!

Thanks for the review, if these settle into your lip lines, I couldn't wear them at all!

Risque looks amazing on you, too bad to hear it settles too much into your lip lines. Still looks really pretty though!

Bleh I hate when they fall into the lines but you have to admit they look GREAT on camera!

Well boo. These do look amazing though.

Ooh – these look nice on the lips… but it drives me nuts when a lippy gets into my fine lines and that happens with liquid lipsticks for me when I am experiencing dry skin. Even with good exfoliating, it will pull all that out. But it looks great on you and that pink reminds me of Candy Yum Yum from MAC… very daring.

VERY pretty shades, but I'm not keen on the settling into lip lines bit.
