For Spring/Summer 2016, Givenchy launched several new products for makeup aficionados like moi. One of the items that made me weak in the knees is the Poudre Lumiere Originelle (Soft Powder Radiance Enhancer). I mean, how can you not fall in love with the soft pastel pink hue and intricately designed lace-like compact? But is it a real charmer in my book of must-haves? read further for the ultimate scoop!

Givenchy Poudre Lumiere Originelle Review Swatch

I read your mind. So what is it exactly? a setting powder, highlighter, face powder? Per brand’s description “it gives the face a delicate illumination; apply it generously over the face for fresh-faced glow or use as highlighter on the cheekbones, node bridge, center of the chin, and forehead”. At $57 (10g/ 0.35 oz), it does sound like a pricey manna from heaven!

I will cut the chase for you ladies. Much as I love Givenchy as a whole (the lipstick range most especially), this pretty-in-the-pan is a fail-in-the-face product. Swiped with a finger, I can detect the subtle illumination but mostly matte texture but applied on the face, it did nothing to illuminate or highlight. I also have to swirl my face brush multiple times to pick up the product as I see no transformation happening. I don’t expect miracle but for the price, c’mon I need to be floored at the very least. So after two weeks of convincing myself that there has to be a way, I give up! It’s like staring at a pretty face which falls short on substance, sigh!
