RED AND GOLD FOR THE HOLIDAYS | Burberry Fragranced Luminizing Powder and Burberry Kisses Military Red

Festive in gold, resplendent in red! That’s how I can succinctly describe these recent acquisitions from Burberry Beauty, both part of my Sephora VIB Rouge haul. Scroll further for more photos, swatch comparison and FOTD.

Aptly named Fragranced Luminizing Powder (No. 01 Gold Glow), this highlighter is delicately laced with My Burberry scent, it’s floral but not overwhelming. It also dissipates after few minutes in comparison to Guerlain powder which seems to linger a tad longer. It is housed in Burberry’s signature chic plaid design albeit in mirrored gold. Nifty extras include a velvet pouch and slim flat brush for precise highlighting of the cheekbones, nose bridge, even brow arch (or at least that’s how I utilize it).

Up close, there’s an imprint which again is reminiscent of the brand’s fragrance. It has magnetic closure and a decent-sized mirror for quick touchups. As you can see from the photos, this luminizer, although called Gold Glow, is not your typical “glowin-for-gold-for-the-holidays”. Applied light-handedly, it renders subtle luminosity which is just appropriate for my age (41 here lady). Also, in comparison to other luminizers I own, it appears more like antique gold, a unique shade to grace my not-so-expansive stash.

Just like black tops, I can never get enough of red lipsticks (and vampy berries too). I don’t know about you but it is the easiest combo I can come up with at any given time. The latest to join my RLC (red lippy congregation)? unarmed but dangerously stunning, I am head-over-heels obsessed with Burberry Kisses Festive Gold (limited edition) in Military Red! Again, it is housed in mirrored gold plaid case which closes magnetically as you connect the body to the cover. Military Red is bright warm red, described as buildable but totally opaque in one pass. It has a glossy finish with outstanding wear time (seven hours max with slight staining of the lips after a meal). Not a fan of gold case? rejoice because this shade is available in the permanent line. Here’s Military Red in comparison to some red lipsticks from my stash.
