Yesterday I introduced you to Beauty Junkees 5 Pc-Large Kabuki Brush Set (enter giveaway here) so as a sequel, I’ll hook you up to another beautifully-made yet affordably priced makeup brushes, the 8-Piece Eye Brush Set ($39.97, free shipping).
While skills are relative, makeup brushes can make or break your look. Harsh and and unblended eye makeup is a big no-no to moi. I’ll be honest, The Aunty Acid in me sometimes want to say “blend or go home”, seriously pun intended, sarcasm meets humor. Now that’s out of my chest, can we talk about how nice these brushes are? Similar to the face kabuki set, these eye makeup bellas are labeled for reference.
Crease brush size is a matter of personal preference. If you have hooded peepers like me (check out my eye makeup tips), opt for a brush that’s quite tapered or domed so you can maneuver it above your normal crease or “hood”to create the illusion of depth. This triumvirate set had me in mind. I use the black and white crease brush interchangeably to build a higher crease, then use the fluffier tapered brush to blend and/ or add dimensional shade. The white brush bristles were initially pokey(ish) but became softer after washing. Happy camper I was.
The white pencil brush is great for smudging eyeshadow along the lower lash line or creating cut-crease. The over all shader is versatile because you an use it to apply eyeshadow, dry or wet, powder or cream. You can also use the brush edge to smudge for wider distribution of eye shadow (if you’re doing smoky eyes). The angled shading is great for eye corner if you’re into outer “v” technique or to contour the crease for dramatic eye looks. The possibilities are endless. Practice makes perfect.
I use the flat definer to tightline, deposit more pigment against the lower or upper lash line or for soft graphic eyes. It’s stiff and wide enough to create a very steady line. I also use the angled precision eye liner to define my brows and/or cat eyes.
For my simple makeup below, I used Beauty Junkees angled precision eye liner (plus taupe Burberry eyeshadow) for my brows and used the flat eyeliner (using the same taupe eyeshadow) to line my upper lash line and create soft cat-eyes. I also used Beauty Junkees flat kabuki to apply foundation and tapered kabuki to blend the concealer under my eye area.
