So let’s talk about single eyeshadows. While I generally gravitate towards palette due to its convenience and shade variety, one can’t simply undermine the power of single eyeshadow. One color, one sweep, and you’re out the door. You know, days when you just want to be the plain ‘ol jane with semi-pizzaz, moments when critical thinking isn’t required (makeup does that? c’mon?!), or you’re just tired of the whole shenanigan. Makeup junkie like moi? then you know what I’m talking about.
I don’t know about you but sometimes the best formula and pigmentation come from single eyeshadows. Plus, you are guaranteed to use ’em as opposed to a palette where some shades aren’t really your thing and/or with sub-par quality. I speak from experience because some eyeshadows from my Naked 1,2,3 are under-utilized. Waste not, want not.
Talking about quality, I am forever in love with Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow Taupe Brown (review). It’s versatile and totally buildable, from sheer to smokey, day to night, this single eyeshadow is a must-have! For my makeup below, I used it to fill in my eyebrows and on the crease. Another taupe-ish, NARS Dual Intensity Himalia (review) is the perfect overall lid color, also worn for this post. It can be applied wet or dry depending on your preference. For oozing smokey-ness, hands down Tom Ford Spring 2015 Limited Edition Cream Color for Eyes (that’s the actual color name, review here) is my ultra go-to. For crease definition, I constantly reach for glominerals Twig (matte brown).

Do you love singles? if so, which brand and shade? enable me!
I also noticed myself slowly transitioning to using eyeshadow singles, after buying a TON of Colourpop shadows.
I just got a Tarina Tarantino single from a friend and I love it so much. I was just thinking how I probably do use singles more often than palettes.
I am all about the single shadow wash of color with some liner and mascara, and out the door I go! I love your choices! These are such gorgeous and easy-to-use colors! I definitely love single shadows!
I really like single shadows. Some of my favorite shadows of all time aren't in any of my palettes.
I am a single shadow lover toooo!
Some of my most beautiful eye shadows are singles. I'm drooling over your little family of pretties. Oh, the neutral beauty.
I love that Burberry color! My problem with all my single eyeshadows is storage – I'm forever forgetting I have a color because it gets stuck in the back and forgotten about. LOL.
I'm generally drawn to palettes, but you're right that often the singles have better pigmentation. I actually love depotting when I can and creating my own palettes so I can get more use of my singles.
My favorite is Darling Girl The Tragic Death of Mr. Stay Pufft. Looks awesome on me.
My eyeshadow singles definitely could use a little more love from me. The ones that do get a lot of use are single cream shadows.
I love single eyeshadows that I can sweep on, and that is usually what I do most days. Thanks for your great suggestions!
You look beautiful. These single shadows are gorgeous… definitely love the cream ones.
Singles are super convenient- love your picks! A stunning taupe single is my must!
I have recently acquired a bunch of single eyeshadows. And, they are great to work with! Your collection looks great! <3
I use singles all the time. I have a few I can't stop reaching for. Ardency Inn Heaven is one of my favorites.
I went palette crazy for a while, but I do find singles have been coming out from the archives more and more Although, when I'm lazy I reach for a palette first!
I do like single eyeshadows, but they're such a pain to travel with because I inevitably want to bring a ton of them! And depotting can be such a pain.
