We’re few days away from summer, my least favorite season. I can’t get past the extreme humidity and relentless heat wave so if I’m bitchin’ for no apparent reason, blame the climate not moi, haha! So how do you look your best if you’re sweating like a pig? scroll down for zilla’s suggestions.
{1} Amp up skincare. Summer or not, sun protection should be in your vocabulary already. The important thing with sunscreen is reapplication, ideally every two hours to ensure continuous protection. More than sunburn, think about the long-term damaging effects of sun exposure (I talked about melanoma and early warning signs here). Hydration is also imperative as sun and heat zap out water from the skin. I prefer multi-tasking products (sunscreen and moisturizer in one) to save me time and money! For a quick facial treat, I use masks twice a week. Aloe-based mask is good for sunburn and hydration. Clay-based mask helps detoxify clogged pores, a consequence of excessive oil production.
{2} Cover less. If you can get away without makeup, I say raise the roof! For us imperfect beauties, ditch thick foundations and opt for lesser coverage. Powder, BB or CC cream, tinted moisturizer, the thinner the better. The more-multi-tasking, twice better.

{3} Go bronzed or pinched. Choose either or. Some women look hella good as bronze goddess (I shared 3 trick here), some as summer sweetheart. Leave contouring and highlighting for special occasions or summer night parties. Less is more when battling heat and sweat.

{4} Go water and sweat-proof. For everyday out and about errands-slash-activities, I don’t wear layers upon layers of eye makeup. But I do love me some colorful eyeliner paired with neutral eyeshadow. Needless to say, I prefer mascara that won’t melt under the heat, eyeshadow that won’t budge when splashed with water and eyeliner that won’t stain lids when mixed with sweat. Not a tall order.

{5} Pucker up. Paint your lips bright or neutral and own the sweat girl. If push comes to shove, use your lips to conquer the irritation of humidity. Fabulous looking lips will amp up any dull lackluster skin and add flair to good ol’ messy bun. Trust me, I live in lippies.
any tips you want to add?
I'm starting to think about taking a trip to Hawaii, and I guess we'll avoid going in the summer, lol. Actually, I love summer here in New England because we don't have that many days of temperatures over 90, and this year, it's still been downright cold. So, I don't have to go overboard with changing up my makeup. I'll probably wear my NARS Weightless Foundation more often (I wish it had SPF in it) or use mineral foundation since they are both more lightweight than even my BB & CC creams. And that's it. But yes, bright lippies are the way to go
talk about over 90s. The last days were high 80s to low 90s. If you can avoid summertime, the better.
Great tips! I prefer BB & CC creams all year round, but especially during warm summer days.
Excellent tips, and what great choices you made! I completely agree that the most important aspect to the use of sunscreen is consistent reapplication. This is the one area where most people falter!
Thanks twinsy!
I'm going home to India this summer and I'm definitely bookmarking this page!
Great tips! I definitely feel less is more in the Summer in regards to makeup because it can get all oily up in there! 🙂
I have heard people say I am using SPF 50-70 I should be good. But then they never reapply, especially if they are in the water or sweating. I am like an annoying granny, asking if anyone wants sunscreen heheh. I do avoid direct sunlight as much as possible hehe I am pasty white or a reason 🙂 I am wanting to buy some of the MJ lippies now that I see your picture hehe
I can only imagine how muggy it is in Hawaii! Great tips for stylish summer makeup!
Fabulous tips! A nice bright lip has the power to correct any makeup and skin flaws, because it grabs all of the attention 🙂
Great tips! I try to go with a BB cream all year round. Makes my face feel less heavy, but it's especially better in the summer!
I definitely need to get better about applying sunscreen more frequently. I only really do if I'm at the beach all day or something.
I used BB and CC creams, as well as tinted moisturizers all year long, but I especially love them in the summer. I can get coverage, keep my skin hydrated, and get the sun protection I need.
YES! Love your tips <3
I always slather on the SPF. Great tips!
I'd be lost without my CC Creams this summer. I can't believe that I didn't melt away before they were invented.
Amazing tips! CC & BB creams for the win! And especially waterproof brow products are a must!
I haven't tried the Lash Power mascara yet but I've heard great things about it.
This is definitely a recipe for a beautiful, glowy summer face!
I live in CC cream in Summer. It performs like a boss through hot Arizona Summer days.
Waterproof everything I can!
I love every single thing you've put in this post. OF COURSE I DID because we're makeup twinnies! I love the waterproof picks especially!
