Gotta love a guy who speaks your beauty vernac and associates your makeup to a celebrity. So while watching American Idol last week, hub said “bey, J Lo has your smokey eyes“. To which I laughed and responded “so she has my makeup and not the other way around ha?”
That bleep-of-a-convo actually reminded me of Tom Ford Titanium Smoke palette which I haven’t touched since its procurement over a month ago. I kept putting it off for a special occasion but come to think of it, I’d rather play it with now or get lost in the labyrinth of makeups.
As you know, I’m all for wearable smokey eyes, even if it’s the blackest of black. There is something sexy about subdued and well-blended eye makeup. Titanium Smoke is the quintessential quad, what with uber matte black, satin gray, metallic gunmetal and glitter champagne, all of varying textures and feel.
There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to smokey eyes but my favorite way is to start with the darkest on the lid, blend up, then transition with lighter shades. For my eye makeup, I used eye primer first then applied gunmetal on the lid, gray on crease, matte black and gunmetal on lower lash line, finally champagne on inner eye corner.
Dark and/or glittery smokey eyes can be quite a mess so to save me from the hassle of retouching, I apply foundation and concealer last. Since eyes are the focus, my lips are predictably mellow. Oh hi nude lips!
