Well who’s back with #FaceFriday? after a period of hibernation, I am reviving this segment which I have introduced in 2013. To recap, #FaceFriday is just my fancy title for the overly-used and hash-tagged #FOTD. In here, I feature most of the products I have reviewed in the past to show you how I wear them altogether on a regular basis.
Brown on brown, seems like an overkill monochromatic theme ha? Inspired by my ‘lil boy Gustavo (from Tom Ford Lips and Boys), I thought of using this earthy shade as the anchor for today’s makeup. Reminiscent of the 90s sans #WTFBrows (see my odd transformation here), you bet I enjoyed my espresso-laden day!
Here’s a snapshot of the major characters for today’s #FaceFriday episode, Brown on Brown…
A summer 2014 discovery which eventually became my go-to foundation, Guerlain Terracota Joli Teint (natural) is a unique foundation because it primes, protects against UV rays, and renders a sun-smooched complexion year-round. Living in Hawaii (and five minutes away from the beach for that matter), my mainland friends have this notion that I must be reveling under the sun or being serenaded by the waves every weekend if not everyday; not a bad idea but truth is, I work like a horse that I hardly hit the beach. So whenever I want to look summer-ish and sun kissed, Guerlain Terracota Joli Teint is my no-brainer choice.
Gotta cover the ‘bags or go home! NARS Creamy Concealer (Custard) is one of the best under eye concealers out there. Creamy but never cakey with superb coverage, what else can you ask for? I used my fave Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation to lightly set the concealer. Power combo it is.
A Fall 2014 release, Gucci Eye Magnetic Color Shadow Quad (Autumn Fire) is a nice little present for your luxe cravings. I used brown for my crease and peachy gold on my lids. Then I smudged Kat Von D Waterproof Autograph Pencil Immortal Love (dark brown) along my upper lash line.
I purposely omitted blush and bronzer lest I look ever so muddy. Plus, can we all stop the GRWM over-contouring insanity? I’m game for it on certain occasions but c’mon, everyday? Oh well, your choice, my opinion.
Have you tried a monochromatic look? what’s your favorite shade to wear?
