Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-In-Oil :: 4 I Rose You (Review and Photos)

If you’re a Sephora VIB and/or VIB Rouge member, I am more than certain that you have used your gift card the moment you received it from the mail or email. I almost didn’t but I couldn’t pass up the $25 off of $50 purchase. I got most of what I really needed and wanted from the VIB sale last month so I settled for only two items, a replenishment of my favorite liquid eyeliner from Kat Von D and the newly-launched Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-In-Oil.

Intrigued as to what is it all about, I chose 4 I Rose You (nude pink, $32 0.20 fl oz/ 6ml) out of the eight shades available for pre-sale amongst VIB Rouge & VIB a.k.a makeup hardcores (full line will launch January 2015).

In a nutshell, the website describes it as a “revolutionary lip tint suspended in deep conditioning oil. It is infused with four essential oils: apricot kernel, coriander fruit, jojoba seed, and passion fruit seed”.

To a makeup junkie’s straightforward-slash-non-marketing jargon, it simply is a hybrid between lip gloss and lip balm, packaged quite fancy in a silver tube, assembled with lip-resembling applicator and finally doused with YSL’s lipstick signature fragrance.

To a lipstick junkie’s more definitive interpretation, it is thinner than a lip gloss and much more lightweight than a lip balm. And yes it is oil by all means. Oil sans the greasy feel. Oil sans all that tackiness and yuckiness. Wear time is short-lived, three hours at the most so reapplication is encouraged. I Rose You is out of my comfort zone (I gravitate towards bright and bold puckers) but I’m game for anything, really.

I considered getting one of these with my coupon, but after having just invested in the BY TERRY Baume de Rose tinted set, decided against it. I am liking the wear time on those.

Oh my! My lips would LOVE this! I used my reward to help me buy my very first YSL lipstick, recently. I can't bring myself to swatch or use it, yet. So far, I am still in just look at it, mode. LOL I'll crack it, soon.

I know that you like the bright and the bold but the soft and gentle is lovely on you, as well.

Just bought one of those from a mall in Helsinki and absolutely L-O-V-E it! It is definitely thinner than a lip gloss but moisturizes my lips better than anything really. The wear time for the "gloss effect" is not that long but it leaves behind a gorgeous tint that (in my opinion) last quite a long time. I also tested the darker shade in 'cherry…something' and it was also super nice.

    Hugs from Finland,
    Hanna
