Sure there are hundred and one shades of red out there but I call Guerlain 820 Rouge Parade from Rouge G collection my “happy kind of red”. Intrigued? scroll down for more photos and eye candies!
Part of Guerlain 2014 Holiday Makeup Collection, 820 Rouge Parade from Rouge G line ($54, Sephora) is officially my favorite red to-date because it instantly brightens my face no matter how sleep-deprived I am. It’s a true red whether swatched or worn, which in my opinion is universally-flattering.
You know what initially attracted me to add this particular lippie to my ever-expanding-I-dont-even-want-to-count-anymore stash? you bet it’s the packaging! Call it extreme but this reminds me of a swiss army knife; of course instead of blades, you’re greeted with double-sided mirror when you unlock the tube. Concealed weapon to another level, tap that. Drop-dead gorgeous lips, double tap.
The formula and pigmentation are phenomenal. This lipstick is so hydrating that applying a lip balm underneath is unnecessary. I get about five hours of wear time without feathering or migration issues. Now here’s the dilemma… I hate to be the bearer of bad news, because much as I rave about it and enable you to splurge right at this moment, this beautiful dagger is currently out of stock at Sephora. Lipstick junkies how dare you hoard like that?
Think you own a similar shade? here’s a comparison with some of my favorite reds (reviews are linked):
Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer Firecracker is red orange
YSL Volupte Shine Rouge in Danger is pinky-red
Givenchy Rouge D’ Exception is brick red
MAC Russian Red is cool-toned dark red
