Jennifer Lopez VMA 2014 Makeup, How to, Smokey Eyes

Hello zillas! First a quick introduction on who we are….The Beauty Council is a new group of beauty and style bloggers with the aim of bringing you the best in makeup and fashion trends, hottest scoop and fabulous finds. Twice a month, we will collaborate and feature certain looks and/ or challenges to spice up our content vis-a-vis readership.

Today we decided on VMA 2014 makeup looks. I’m an avid JLo fan so it was an easy choice for moi. Plus I don’t even know who these new celebrities are; if not for Google, I would think of Iggy Azalea as another fad diet. Ugh, this woman is freakin’ old!

Jennifer went for smokey purple-taupe-ish eyes, pink nude lips, subtle pink cheeks, and sun kissed complexion. You can see my inspiration here.

Here are the products I used to recreate J’Lo’s makeup (reviews are linked):

For my face, I mixed my favorite bronze foundation Guerlain Terracota Joli Teint (Moyen) with a lighter shade from Estee Lauder Double Wear (Intensity 2.0) to achieve that subtle sun-smooched effect.

To camouflage dark under eyes, I used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and set it with BECCA Boudoir Skin Mineral Powder.

For my eyebrows, I used Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.

For my eye makeup, I started with NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, followed with Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Diapason as base.

Looking for the perfect purple-taupe eyeshadow turned out to be quite a challenge. Good thing, I found a close dupe, it’s Bluff from Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things palette. I applied it on my eyelids and blended it out past my crease. I also used the same shade for my lower lash line. I applied Pure Glam (metallic black) on the outer corner and Coquet (holo gold) near my tear duct. I highlighted my brow bone with Cream Colored Peonies, all from the same palette.

To continue, I lined my waterline with Rimmer ScandalEyes in nude, tightlined my upper lash line with Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Blacquerapplied two coats of Hourglass Film Noir Mascara on my upper lashes, and Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara for my lower lashes.

For my cheeks, I used NARS Orgasm. To contour and highlight, I used my current go-to Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow.

Finally the lips… it’s YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 8 Pink in Confidence.
