Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gel 146 Cabaret, Review, Swatch, Fall Lipsticks

One of the things I like about Fall is the anticipated return of its staple color, makeup-wise. Dark berry, burgundy, red wine, plum; call it whatever you want but this shade is definitely not for the faint of heart. As a lover of bold lipsticks, you guess I am doubly elated to rock it in I-don’t-even-care-where-I’m-going-or-what-I’m-doing situation. Sheez, that’s quite a mouthful but let me introduce you to one lippy that had me at first swipe. Kindly scroll down for more photos, swatch comparison, and the final verdict.

Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gel in 146 Cabaret ($30, 3.6 g/ 0.12 oz) is a VIB Rouge exclusive. If you’re unfamiliar with the points system, those marketing geniuses at Sephora profiled their makeup-loving consumers based on their purchases. Beauty Insider is for the rookie, VIB for semi-addicted,  and VIB Rouge is for those needing rehab. Ha! guilty as charged! In short, the more purchases you make, the more points you earn, the higher your status becomes. T’was funny because when I reached the hall-of-shame VIB Rouge, these Sephora girls kept thanking me for converting my status. It wasn’t my choice ladies, my makeup insanity made me do it, lol!

Anyways, let’s get back to the whole point of this Fall must-have lipstick. As I was saying, like red or nude, berry can be interpreted in hundred and one ways. That pretty much sums up why I decided to give Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gel Cabaret a try.

Consistent with other Marc Jacobs beauty products, the packaging looks chic in black. You click the button to slide the lipstick up (as shown in photo). The tip is semi-round which made application on the corners of my mouth quite tricky. Again, not a big deal but I had to use a lipstick brush for precision. This lipstick is very creamy and unbelievably bold and opaque in one pass. It’s quite glossy sans the tacky-feel. Wear time is also commendable, I say five hours give or take. For reference, here’s Cabaret compared to some of my favorite plum babies (reviews are linked): YSL Forbidden Burgundy, Givenchy Violine Precieux, Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose (Crimson), Lorde MAC Pure Heroine.

First impression dictates my future purchase so given my stellar experience with Cabaret, a repurchase is definitely inevitable.

Here’s a classic example of I-will-wear-whatever-lipstick-I-want-who-the-hell-cares. Yep, moi in workout clothes and bold berry puckers.
