For the love of orange. Orange Poppy is part and parcel of Burberry Beauty Summer Showers Collection. The other two being Pink Peony and Pink Azalea. Inspired by the English sunset and rainfall during summertime, this collection features new lip and cheek formula and a lacquer to boot.
For the love of orange. Second to purple, I’m beginning to embrace orange as the new red. That’s the only legit reason why I settled for Orange Poppy, which if you’re feeling the whole matchy-matchy vibe, is composed of a fancy nail polish, fancier lip balm, and fanciest cheek color. Intrigued? scroll down more for photos and deets.
Let’s start with the fancy lacquer. I flat out admit that I’m not good at painting my nails, it’s not my forte. But see I like my nails to look pretty and chip-free for several days if need be. Orange Poppy No.221 Nail Polish ($21) is orange red; it’s opaque in one coat, creamy, streak-free, and had decent wearability of about four days. I call it fancy because while the color isn’t entirely unique, how can you not love the signature plaid chrome bottle. If you’re a sucker for packaging just like moi, you can empathize with my trivial fascination.
Let’s tackle the fancier lip balm, Orange Poppy No.2 ($28). It’s sheer orange with balm-like feel and texture. It’s hydrating and stains the lips quite a bit. Wear time is four hours, give or take, sans meal. I say fancier because it’s a new formula by Burberry Beauty. It has rosehip, tea and lavender extracts with some oils for moisturization. The packaging is also plaid chrome with signature magnetic closure. If you’re branching to bolder lip colors this summer without the shock factor, wearing tinted balm is a good way to start your fancy journey. I know I said fancy again so let me reword it then, frilly that is!
Finally, let’s meet the fanciest from this collection, the Fresh Glow Blush ($38). Apart from being a new formula, this has a cooling sensation which lasts for about sixty seconds or so. It’s the fanciest because I don’t own anything like it. It’s sheer, translucent, and barely noticeable as you can see from the swatch below. The application is nothing scientific; you apply it straight from the tube onto the cheeks and then blend either with fingertips or brush. Since it’s lightly tinted, I had to reapply and blend a few times to make it more evident on my medium skin tone (over foundation, sealed with setting powder). Since it’s really sheer, I didn’t even pay attention to the wear time, it’s negligible as I would call it. So yeah, the schmancy fancy starts and ends with the cooling thingimajig.
Here are swatches of Lip Glow Balm and Fresh Glow Blush.
Here’s Fresh Glow Blush…I could’ve applied more so the camera can capture the very sheer color but this is my #FOTD for work. I don’t want to scare my patients with orange cheeks por favor, haha!
And here’s Lip Glow Balm after three swipes…
