You may or may not know my buying habits. I don’t purchase everything right away even if I’m enticed to the nth degree. I want to study, experience, evaluate and decide. Then I procure few more. I’m like that even with my shoes. If I seriously like a particular style, I’d buy two or more pairs in different colors.
Such is the case with Givenchy Ombre Couture Cream Eyeshadow. Because I was immensely impressed with the overall quality of my initial haul (review here), the makeup junkie side of moi can’t be repressed… I want more por favor!
Retailing for $23 (4g / .14 oz), this cream eyeshadow dries to a buttery-smooth powder finish. It can be used on its own or as eyeshadow base for a more vibrant look.
Ingredients: Isododecane, Dimethicone, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate, Silica, Polyethylene, Carnauba Wax, Phenoxyethanol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Boron Nitride, Microcrystalline Wax, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopherol, BHT. May Contain (+/-) : Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Tin Oxide, Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491 – Ci 77492 – Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77007 (Ultramarines), Ci 75470 (Carmine), Ci 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake), Ci 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide).
Prune Taffetas is slightly shimmery purple with silver specks.
Blue Soie is semi-matte navy blue.
Brun Cachemire is semi-mettalic chocolate brown with bronze specks.
All three are pigmented, sweat-proof (survived intensive workout), and with decent eight-hour wear time. Unfortunately, these aren’t waterproof, they rubbed off right away under running water. I know it’s not exactly hygienic but the best way to apply this cream eyeshadow on the lid is by using your pinkie or ring finger. Blending the crease with a finger ain’t rocket science but if you pull up the color from the edge of the lid to the crease by doing a quick patting motion, you’ll achieve a beautiful transitional effect. I like to use Blue Soleil and Prune Taffetas as eyeliner, they go on smooth! Talk about multi-tasking ha?
For my eye makeup below, I used Brune Cachemire exclusively on the lid and crease, tight-lined my upper lash line with a black liner, and applied two coats of black mascara . Easy peasy.
I feel silly telling you this but I have never owed anything from Givenchy beauty wise. I really need to bite the bullet.
Nope not silly at all because there are lots of brands I haven't tried either.
Gorgeous. You make everything look "I need that in my life, NOW!" Then I look at my debit card balance and go sit in a corner and cry. LOL
