I maybe late in the BB ballgame because for one, a tinted moisturizer under the guise of a skin saver never really appealed to me.  But here’s the thing. I noticed that in the last two months, my face has become borderline dry, combination skin to be more specific. Hormonal or weather-related? Regardless, I have to have a quick fix so is BB cream the answer this time? read further.

BB Venom Skin Tint SPF 15 ($44, 135 fl oz). Ha! another fancy name from UK-brand Rodial (the makers of dragon’s blood and snake serum skincare line). So what is this venomous makeup that ensnared my curiosity?

What the website says: A lightweight tinted moisturiser with built in SPF and designed to provide medium coverage for a flawless and younger-looking complexion. Hyaluronic Acid instantly plumps the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst Hydromanil increases moisture levels for long-lasting hydration and skin softness.

What I say: First I didn’t write whilst, you can tell it’s not standard American English. Second, this product is indeed lightweight. Third, it’s light to medium coverage, depending on how much you apply. Fourth, it’s dewy without the excessive shine. Fifth, it does blur pores and acne scars. Sixth, when set with a powder, it has commendable wear time (7-8 hrs). Lastly, it has subtle citrus scent. But you know the utmost reason why I repurchased another tube without even finishing my first? Goodlawd, it didn’t oxidize on me. True I had to blot my face twice throughout the day but other than that, I was impressed that I didn’t turn to Ms. Oompa Loompa.

Hamptons is a close match to my medium skin tone. The only deal breaker is the limited color selection (3 shades, hello!) But that’s a pretty common scenario to most BB creams. Hit or miss, you gotta play the game girl!

So for the nth time, here’s my barenaked face. Want to investigate my pores and acne scars? click zoom, haha! But save yourself from the horror and hassle my friend. Lookie, you can tell that Rodial BB Venom Skin Tint concealed my flaws.

What’s worth sharing is how this BB cream reacts to my skin. It appears dewy on initial application, then sets to a semi-matte finish that lasts for about four hours. After that, it becomes dewy again. Take note, I skip face primer because a BB cream is supposed to prime, moisturize, color-correct, protect from sun and prevent wrinkles.

Now let’s try some magic. Add a pop of color here and click the cam there, don’t you just lurveee makeup?

Have you tried Rodial BB Venom Skin Tint?

That really is a good color BB cream on you! Only 3 shades would worry me a little, but my fair skin usually matches one of the lighter shades anyway.

That worked so well! I'd be worried I couldn't get a match = I'm between shades with even Too Faced's line and there are a lot more in there… I'd def check this out, tho, if I could play with it in person first.

wow – that looks like an awesome BB cream. I would probably be able to get away with using the shade you chose out if I used face products like that… but it worries me that there are only 3 shades. You look gorgeous!

I think medium will suit you too. That's the deal breaker, limited shades.
