I beg to disagree… that rose is an old woman’s shade.

I absolutely disagree… that rose is lifeless and boring.

But perhaps we can agree… that while I’m old (I talked about it here),

…I’m neither drab nor going downhill.

…Especially when I’m seduced by a lovely ‘lil tube you and I will call Zhi-Von-Shi. Repeat one more time with your eyes closed, Givenchy.

65 Enigmatic Rosewood ($32, 3.5g) is the newest addition from the Givenchy Rouge Interdit line and  I’m telling you right now, it’s a must-have in gargantuan proportion!

The devil is in the detail. Rouge Interdit screams elegance from the inside out.  See the folded ribbon at the bottom? that’s how you pull the product out. From the monogram, black lacquer case and engraved silver tube, do you agree that this lipstick was conceptualized with the fashion-forward woman in mind?

What the Sephora website saysRouge Interdit is more than a lipstick: it’s a fashion accessory with a designer signature. The black and silver tube is an objet d’art adorned with a ribbon at one end that unlocks this beautiful piece. Wear anytime, in any circumstance. When applied, it immediately soothes and softens. Its fine, spreadable texture melts over the lips.

What my lips say: If you adore the creaminess of Tom Ford Lip Color and Hourglass Femme Rouge, then Givenchy Rouge Interdit is a great contender in the #lovelippy category! 65  Enigmatic Rosewood is THE (intentionally typed in CAPS) perfect everyday neutral rose lipstick. It looks plum-ish from the tube but on my lips, it’s rose-mauve.

For comparison, here are swatches from my “neutral” stash. Note that neutral is relative. To me, anything that is not bright pink, burgundy, purple or red can pass for nude depending on the intensity and pigmentation.

Wear time- wise, it lasts four to five hours. It does not stain lips and it’s completely gone after devouring a sumptuous meal (Korean bbq and long rice anyone?) But see this is the kind of lipstick you don’t mind applying over and over again because (1) it hydrates like your beloved lip balm (2) the couture-ish packaging alone elicits oooohs and aahhhs, guaranteed!

At first look I thought the lipstick would be far more intense when worn but it's actually more wearable than I imagined.
