I caved. I’ve been stalking Sephora online for new makeup releases the past weeks, and gurl! my heart skipped when I saw Givenchy’s new cream eyeshadows! So there, even if I struggle pronouncing it, I have to have Givenchy (zhi-von-shi). Ga-von-chi, Ja-von-shay, Gi-ven-shi, what the heck, just give moi my darn eyeshadow! But for real, I have googled this many times and the right pronunciation is zhi-von-shi *insert saliva-pooling here and eye-rolling there* …. so remember that mademoiselle the next time you go to Sephora, oki? haha!

So what exactly are these beauties that twisted yo mama’s tongue? According to the website, “Givenchy Ombre Couture is a new generation of creamy, waterproof, and long-lasting eyeshadows. These eyeshadows glide on instinctively, hugging the curves of the eyelids, then dry down to a powdery finish for up to 16-hrs of long-wearing waterproof color. It can be used alone or as eyeshadow base”.

Sold for $23 (0.14 oz) each and available in nine shades, I initially picked up three just to see if they’re right up my alley.

Ingredients: Isododecane, Dimethicone, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate, Silica, Polyethylene, Carnauba Wax, Phenoxyethanol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Boron Nitride, Microcrystalline Wax, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopherol, BHT. May Contain (+/-) : Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Tin Oxide, Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491 – Ci 77492 – Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77007 (Ultramarines), Ci 75470 (Carmine), Ci 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake), Ci 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide).

Top Coat Blanc Satin is pearlescent white which is better worn over an eyeshadow, hence the name. It gives any eyeshadow a glittery dimension without the overkill. It adheres to the eyelids or eyeshadow without fallouts or migration, at least based from my experience.

Kaki Brocart is army green with subtle gold shimmer; it is unexpectedly beautiful, creamy and very easy to work with.

Beige Mousseline is beige with barely-there silver specks; it is very creamy and easy to blend.

These cream eyeshadows are best applied on the lids using fingertips, quite unhygienic but it renders the most effortless look. Given my oily lids predicament, I was impressed that I had no creasing issues the whole time I was wearing it, which is ten hours maximum at any given time (used alone, without eye primer). I can’t vouch for its waterproof claim (I don’t swim or bathe with full-blown makeup!) but I must say, it survived the whole dancin’, sweatin’, hoopin’ and jumpin’ of this fitness-wannabe-zilla! Truly budge-free, I couldn’t be more happy.

…..So happy I purchased few more shades (stay tuned!)

Meantime, here’s Kaki Brokart in action….
