My dear sissies-in-law are in town so yesterday we hit the beach. Ironically, I live five minutes away from the beach yet it’s almost a year since I have been there. Talk about work-home-blog. I have to have balance!

My tiny piece of paradise! Sun, water, sand, and shave ice, haha!

Okay seriously, who goes to the beach with mega makeup on? Not moi! I go bare minimum at its finest. I pack light so here are my essentials: sunscreen, tinted lip balm (with spf), killer shades and magazine. Oh, add bottles of water for rehydration!

My go-to sunscreen is from MDSolarSciences, it’s mineral-based and very lightweight. You can find my full review here

I like multi-tasking products so this tinted lip butter from Rodial is right up my alley. It has SPF 15 and it smells like coconut!

These Michael Kors sunnies are sleek and chic. Of course, I have to have it the moment I laid eyes on ’em.

Your staples for the beach are same as mine – lip balm, sunscreen, sunnies and something to read or listen to 😉 I can't wait that it is finally getting warm out – the boys are so stoked to be hitting the beaches and ponds again. I'm glad you got some time to hit the beach girl… you deserve a little you time. 😉

Bare minimum we are mama! Glad to know you don't pile makeup, haha!

Looks so fun! I want to go!!

  3. March 28, 2014 / 2:26 pm

Jealous!!! Great beach picks and wish I was at the beach!!!

You live five minutes from that and haven't been there in a year? Mind. Blown. Of course, I have lived in Arizona since 1983 and I have never seen the Grand Canyon so who am I to judge? LOL

How can you look that good with just sunscreen and lip balm? It just isn't fair.

haha! See, that's what I'm telling the hub. If you live in a touristy-place, it doesn't mean we play tourist every chance we get. We live in a real world: work-home-work.

We definitely bring the same staples to the beach! Wish I had one closer by!

awesome! less is more when we hit the beach, it's no pageantry

  6. March 28, 2014 / 4:48 pm

Woaahhh it is so serene! Where do you stay, if I may ask?

  7. March 28, 2014 / 7:27 pm

I hear ya. 20 mins from 'the world's most famous beach' and I rarely go, too. You know it'll always be there! Glad you got some time to experience that, though – what a great beach!

    • March 31, 2014 / 12:01 am

I can relate. We only realize we live in a touristy place when we see tourists spending their money ha?

  8. March 28, 2014 / 8:42 pm

These MK sunnies are what I have been looking for! Have to have them!

  9. March 28, 2014 / 10:18 pm

I need to go to the beach soon! You make me miss it

  10. March 28, 2014 / 11:06 pm

SO jealous, wish I was on the beach! It's still SO cold here 🙁

  11. March 28, 2014 / 11:40 pm

There are no beaches close to me. But if there were, this is what I would take!

  12. March 29, 2014 / 12:38 am

Love bringing magazines to the beach! I always have Allure, SPF, shades and water! But I'll leave the water at home because I'm stealing your shaved ice. And adding vodka. SorryNotSorry.

    • March 31, 2014 / 12:03 am

hahaha! and I'll be chasing your drunk ass for stealing my shave ice, LOL

  13. March 29, 2014 / 2:20 pm

Can't wait for the beach weather 🙂 I normally wear minimal makeup to the beach: waterproof mascara, tinted moisturizer with SPF and a lipstain (also doubled as blush on the cheeks).

I'm about 15 minutes from the beach and rarely go – I know what you mean!
