What makes a woman blush? compliment her when she least expect it.

What makes a woman blush? her baby’s first ever smile.
What makes a woman blush? her stiletto broke while crossing the street.

So what makes a woman blush? anything and everything, because we are born just like that.

I saw, it came, I blushed. Welcome to my world, Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Blush. Available in six universally flattering shades, I picked up Diffused Heat.

The heat is on my dahling, salivate if you must.

I’ve always been a fan of Hourglass face products, in fact Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation and Ambient Lighting Powder made it to my Top 13 Best Beauty Products of 2013. So when Sephora had an early release to its VIB members, I have to have this blush pronto.

The skinny. At $35, Ambient Lighting Blush looks like it’s more “affordable” than its sister Ambient Lighting Powder ($45) . I was surprised myself so when this beauty arrived, I had to compare it side by side. As you can see from the photo, Ambient Lighting Blush (Net wt 0.15 oz/ 4.2g) is smaller than Ambient Lighting Powder (Net wt 0.35 oz/ 10g). Take note, “affordable” is relative; I rarely discuss pricing unless it’s a total rip-off. If I like a certain product, whether it’s a cheapo drugstore or designer brand, I focus on inherent attributes because at the end of the day, it all boils down to preference.

Now let’s talk about the packaging. This blush is housed in a rosy-copper mirrored case. It’s posh and luxe, just like the rest of Hourglass products. I like that it has a mirror for quick touch-ups.

Diffused Heat is described as vibrant poppy. Simply put, it’s a beautiful marbleized peachy-pink and soft yellow powder with specks of shimmer that renders a youthful luminous effect. It’s moderately pigmented and finely-milled. There was minimal fading, and that’s based on ten-hour wear, which is my average makeup time in any given day.

As of this writing, all shades are completely sold out at Sephora but fret not,  it will be available to the general public by last week of February.
