I will pretend that you know me well enough. I will pretend that you understand my lipstick obsession. Well hello there, I know you’re new to this blog.

But to my long-time friends and readers who know me from the bottom of my hypothalamus, no pretensions! You know I love me some good lippy every time, any time. On that note, pass no judgement because I added another bright pink lipstick to my arsenal.

While doing my last hurrah makeup-shopping for 2013 (weekend after Christmas), I can’t help but be mesmerized with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet 44 La Diva, one of the five lipsticks included in Notes de Printemps Spring 2014 Collection. But I’m always mesmerized like a kid inside a candy store so what else is new. Exactly my thoughts.

44 La Diva ($34, 0.12 oz) is part of the Rouge Allure Velvet line which boasts of intensely-pigmented, non-drying, and long-wearing lipsticks with luminous velvet matte finish. La Diva is bright fuchsia or cool-toned pink that may not appeal to Neutral Nancy. But for Vivacious Vivian? you bet she’s twerking.

Let’s cut to the chase. While I adore its superb color payoff and commendable 5-hour wear time, it’s disappointingly drying. I didn’t like that it accentuated my horrendous lip lines. But for all its worth, there has to be a quick solution— exfoliate lips and wear lip balm underneath.  No matte, no glory. Charge it to experience.

Oh well, here’s the demi-diva rocking La Diva loca.

Do you like matte lipsticks? What’s your go-to?
