If you are a subscription box fanatic, I’m more than certain that you know how Popsugar Must-Have Box works. For $35 a month (free shipping), you get premium items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness or food category which were hand-selected by Popsugar’s fashion-forward editors (combined retail value of $100+). Just imagine Forrest Gump telling you “gurl, it’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get”.
For October, Popsugar has teamed up with a number of brands that support breast cancer charities. Popsugar will also donate $1 to breast cancer research for every box that was sold.
Ready to see what’s inside? let’s begin!
$27.99 but on sale for $17+ at Barnes and Nobles.
While I know how to whip up recipes, my hectic schedule leaves me no time to cook in most days. I’m also getting tired of the same chicken adobo, baked cheese salmon, ravioli or barbeque steak I am serving for dinner. Plus I need new ideas for the holiday season! This cookbook for dummies (well sorta!) penned by Jessica Seinfeld is a breath of fresh cilantro! It features 100+ recipes that are easy enough to prepare regardless of your skill level. I immediately browsed the book and was impressed to see how detailed it was without sacrificing creativity. Watch this short Popsugar interview with Jessica Seinfeld as she talks about the concept of her new book “Can’t cook”.
Of course, you gotta have makeups in a subscription box to make moi happy! I have limited experience with NYX eye makeups so I was very excited to try the smokey shadow palette and liquid brown eyeliner.
Nyx smokey palette, $7 / Nyx liquid eyeliner, $6
I’ve been using this palette and liner the past days. Here’s one FOTD (face of the day) for ya:
Another reason to make me smile? throw in a nail polish! I maybe late in the ball game but truth is, I haven’t tried Julep. This nail polish duo is perfect for fall. I received Char (midnight blue lacquer) and Freedom Polymer Top Coat. Char is creamy, non-streaky and opaque in one coat. Freedom made Char even glossier. I had 4 days of wear time before it chipped.
Julep Char, $14 / Julep Freedom Top Coat, $18
Receiving bobby pins may not be the most thrilling experience but these Jane Tran bobby pins are different. They look sleek and modern, something a mature woman (like me, *coughs*) can wear without looking like a wannabe teenager. Now that I’m growing out my bangs, they really came in handy.
I can’t find the exact style at janetran.com but my guesstimate would be $15 for this set.
While this Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet is pretty, the neon pink color befits my teenage niece more so I’m giving it to her. By the way, if you purchase this signature pink bracelet on gorjana, 100 percent of the sale goes straight to Breast Cancer Connections.
I’m definitely in need of a new hair brush so to receive one unexpectedly is always a delight. I am not familiar with the brand Wet Brush but let me tell you one thing, this beauty makes hair-brushing (after a shower) tug-free! The bristles are spaced out as you can see from the picture.
I maybe in the minority but I don’t feel overly excited with food from a subscription box. This cripsycake looks mouth-watering though so I took a small bite. It’s not too sweet, that’s all I can say.
Finally, there’s a gift card from Stitch Fix worth $20 (plus a waived styling fee). Stitch Fix is your online styling BFF. How it works is similar to most subscription boxes. You create your styling profile (bohemian, classic, glam, preppy; determine your budget per item), receive 5 hand-picked items from your online stylist, pay only for what you like and send back the rest. If you keep all, you receive 25% discount. I already created a profile but didn’t order yet. I have to read more reviews before I take the plunge.
