It’s not the red lipstick that gives me a well- rested aura. It’s not the champagne eyeshadow that brightens my eyes. It’s not the newly-released perfume that perks me up. So what’s the secret weapon then? Shhhh, between you and me, it’s the concealer!

Still part of my VIB Sephora haul, Cover FX Cream Concealer ($27, 0.33 oz) is a recent discovery full of ahhhs and ooohs! For one, I have never owned a Cover FX product before so when I swatched it in-store, I was instantly impressed with its lightweight yet creamy texture. Available in twelve shades, I settled for G Light, which is two shades lighter than my medium skin tone. (Following its color coding, G refers to golden undertone, P for pink, N for neutral).

Ingredients: Aqua, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Glycerin, Cetyl PEG/ PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Squalane, Triacontanyl PVP, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Tribehenin, Sorbitol/Sebacic Acid Copolymer Behenate, Fluorphlogopite, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Ethyl Linoleate, Ethyl Linolenate, Ethyl Oleate, Bisabolol, Magnesium Sulfate, Tocopherol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Xymenynic Acid, Phytosphingosine, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Ceramide 2, PEG-10 Rapeseed Sterol, Tin Oxide, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide MAY CONTAIN Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Chromium Oxide Green (CI 77288)

Does not contain: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan

First let’s talk about the packaging. I like that it comes in an easy-squeez tube. I don’t like when I dip my fingers in a palette for obvious sanitary reasons. Second, value for money. You only need a tiny dot (not even a pea size) for both under eyes. Third, like I said, it’s really creamy without the heavy-feel (of course that would depend on how much you load up). Fourth, I had no creasing issues (again if you don’t pile unnecessarily). Just so you have an idea, this is how I conceal the haggardness of it all. Say hello to the fez!

As you can see, I have uneven skin tone and dark under eyes. And even if I applied foundation, those dreaded dark circles are still noticeable. Now look at the difference between my left under eye versus right. You can already tell that my left side looks more “awake”, that’s where G Light concealer was lightly applied. On both sides, hideous circles are gone mama! My final step to concealing is to seal it with a finely-milled powder. Again, lightly dust with a small brush to prevent caking.

Why don’t we finish the look? Here’s the end result:

With this positive experience, you know I’m going to try other Cover FX products!

What’s your go-to concealer?

Kathryne
