Truth # 1: The holiday season brings out the best in everyone. Truth # 2: The holiday season pushes makeup companies to be more creative, packaging-wise. Truth # 3: The holiday season is the best time for makeup junkies to hoard without guilt.

Still part of my Sephora VIB guilt-free haul, Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things ($56, Sephora) features twenty eyeshadows, two blushes, two bronzers, chevron-print makeup bag, full-sized lip tint, and deluxe-sized mascara.

Like how can you not drool over this spectacle of a palette?

It’s going to be a swatchfest, y’all ready?

Let’s go to color description, quality, and finish of these eyeshadows….

Snowflakes is metallic champaign, very chalky with fallout issues.

Cream Colored Peonies is matte off-white, a tad powdery.

Coquet is sheen pink-champaign, it’s great for highlighting.

Tinsel is metallic rustic gold (one of my favorites).

Whiskers on Kittens is matte flesh with gold overspray

Honey Honey is metallic gold (another favorite)

Taffy is sheen light pink

Buff is sheen gray/mauve/purple (again a favorite)

Chocolate Milk is matte light brown, it’s a good shade for the crease

Buche de Noel is metallic bronze-brown

Crisp Apple Strudel is metallic light brown

Ooh la Orchid is matte purple, it’s chalky!

Moon on Their Wings is light gold, it’s very chalky and gritty!

Evergreen is sheen olive green

Woolen Mittens is matte brown

Party Time is sheen blue/purple/gray

Dark Chocolate is matte dark brown, it’s great for eyebrow and tightlining

Blue Satin Sashes is dark blue with gold specks, it’s powdery!

Soiree is matte maroon with gold specks

Pure Glam is matte black with silver specks

Here are the blushes and bronzers up close:

Raindrops on Roses is shimmery pink

Chocolate Soleil is matte brown (it smells cocoa)

Melt into Spring is matte peach

Sun Bunny is half light bronze and half dark bronze, both shimmery

When you name a product “Better than Sex”, it has to be really better than the real thing right? You know this zilla‘s going to take it literally, haha! Oh well, it failed in the pleasure department. It’s nothing but a chunky mascara with big bristles and thick formula.

left with mascara; right au naturel

Another miss is the Lip Injection Color Bomb (Bee Sting). It’s supposed to be s moisture plumping lip tint. It didn’t do anything but give moi nude lips. It smells fruity and nice but that’s about it.

While there are some misses on this set (which I kind of expected for holiday releases), it remains a nice holiday present to yourself or bestie. I love Chocolate Soleil bronzer so I’m going to buy a full-sized version next time!

Finally, here’s my Face of the Day wearing some of the eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, lip injection, and mascara.

Melt Into Spring (blush), Chocolate Soleil (bronzer)
Lip Injection, Better than Sex mascara
Tinsel on lids, Buche de Noel on crease
Evergreen on outer corner
Cream Colored Peonies on brow bone
Dark Chocolate on eyebrows
Evergreen and Woolen Mittens on lower lash line

What’s you favorite holiday palette?

Kathryne
