I lurvee my long hair but hate the pricey maintenance. Few days before New Year’s, I changed my hair color, had highlights and bangs. So I haven’t been back to the salon since then; reason being, this woman thought she could do the touch-ups herself. Why not? few hundred bucks saved means more moolah goes to the woman cave renovation fund (a.k.a makeup room/ home office).

Anyhoo, I received this AVA protective hair oil treatment and styling aid from Planet Beauty, a high-end beauty boutique in California (they also sell online). Perfect timing, I needed hot oil treatment! But wait, it also protects hair from hot styling tools. And it’s cruelty-free. And it’s free from parabens and sulfates. And it’s for all hair types. And it’s natural. So how do you use it then?

As a styling aid: Rub a small amount of products into hands. Apply to damp hair starting from ends up and style as usual.

As an oil treatment: Use 1-2 times a week; apply liberally to dry hair, leave on for ten minutes and rinse as usual.

I can write a thousand words but a before and after photo can better articulate what I have to say:

Before: When I say out of bed hair, it literally is. So that’s moi in my PJ’s! My natural hair is wavy and a tad dry. And yeah that’s how it looks when brushed.

After: I seldom use styling tools but for the purpose of this post, I did use my ghd styler to straighten my hair plus the AVA oil. I wish there’s a way you can sniff my hair but it does smell good with AVA! While the shine isn’t noticeable enough, I can tell you without batting an eyelash that my hair feels lighter… and tangle-free!
