Got Only Skin? I Found My New Foundy! Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (Review)

Nah. I’m not going to repeat myself and say that if there’s one makeup item that I do splurge on, it would be foundation. Of course I just did that. Why not coconut. Hmmm, what good is a smokey eye makeup or vampy lips if I don’t have the flawless face I so desire. You see my face is an oil machinery in disguise, I hate to retouch when out and about, and my skin breaks out easily. So to say that I’m picky is a total understatement. I am verrrryyyy to the nth power.

If you share the same dilemma and you don’t mind the $55-tag, you might like this foundation the same way I do. Available in 16 shades, Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (30ml, 1.0 fl oz) is a foundy like no other. No exaggeration mah ‘zillas.

Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Water, Silica, Butylene Glycol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Kaolin, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11, Peg/Ppg-18/18 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Decyl Glucoside, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone/Methicone Copolymer, Magnesium Sulfate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tribehenin, Glycerin, Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture, Xanthan Gum, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Lavandula Stoechas Extract. May Contain ( +/- ): Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides.

So what makes it sound like it’s a manna from heaven then? LIQUID POWDER {all in caps for emphasis}. It’s liquid but dries to a matte finish, yeah like a powder!  Isn’t that one less product to buy or routine to do? It’s free from parabens, oil, fragrance, phtalate, gluten and synthetic dye. It’s vegan and cruelty-free too.

Experience speaks. Without primer, my shine-free moment is about four hours. With primer (which is always part of my beauty ritual), I had to blot my face twice during the ten hour-period. Since it has dimethicone, I noticed slight blurring of my open pores. It is lightweight and doesn’t feel sticky at all. I love that it comes with a pump (don’t you just hate it when high-end brands scrimp on this?). And as you can see from the photo, the bottle is sleek and classy. One pump is enough for medium coverage and two pumps for full. On a pretty normal day, I do one and a half. Application is so easy- I like to use a big kabuki-style brush for blending and buffing. ‘Must be psychological but I feel extra fabulous when I wear this foundy, like “hail the queen and roll the red carpet please”

I’m new to Hourglass brand but you know the works, when I’m happy with the experience, I buy more from the product line. With that said, stay tuned for my next Hourglass review. Meantime, you can watch my fez and this foundy in action here.

I've never heard of this! I also tend to splurge on foundation. My only concern is liquid to powders always cake up on me. Did you have any problems like that with this one?

What shade are you in MAC? I'm an NC30 and I'm debating whether I should get light beige or nude.

  7. May 22, 2013 / 5:33 pm

I have this foundation in Ivory, but I'm contemplating exchanging it for the Nude. I feel like the Ivory is slightly light. I am NC25-30. How do you bring life to your skin in this foundation? I think it may be too matte for me though the oil control is great. I get greasy with everything, including Estee Lauder Double Wear and Revlon Color Stay Combo/Oily. My favorite foundation is Tarte Amazonian Clay. The oil control isn't nearly as good but I prefer the finish. For summer though, Hourglass will be much better for all day wear so I realyl want to make ti work.

I have really oily skin so matte finishes like this hourglass foundation work best for me. If you find it too matte, maybe mixing it with a bit of your moisturizer can do the trick. Thanks for stopping by! xo

I am nc30 do you think Nude or Light Beige would be more suited to my light/medium yellow skin?
