Still reekin’ from my freakin’ experience with Rimmel ScandalEyes (see post here), I tried another drugstore brand and see if it works this time. I have to say the most ostentatious claims and advertising come from mascaras. Could Maybelline Volum’Express The Mega Plush Mascara live up to its promise? Let’s dissect.
The Buzz. Introducing Maybelline’s first Gel Mousse formula which contains 40% less hard waxes for massive yet supple lashes, never still, never brittle. Has patented Flexor Brush that gently coats every lash with supple volume.
The Bust. There is no massive and supple volume but it’s lightweight than most mascaras I have tried. The patented brush thingimajig has no exemplary use ( it’s bent at the center of the wand) so consider it a a useless marketing claim. The brush is of average size and the bristles taper towards the tip. First coat had that tender separation of lashes, second coat makes it clumpy. It didn’t smudge throughout the day and it didn’t irritate my eyes (Look ‘Ma No Tears!). Overall, this is a nice mascara for everyday use. It’s not bad but it isn’t the best either.
Here’s the before and after for reference:
