Designer extraordinaire Rachel Roy expanded her empire via the launch of Shadow Collection, a Macy’s exclusive, last November 2011.  It has ten coordinating eyeshadows aptly labeled Day & Night.

$32, Macy’s
“Day”

“Night”

This was a surprise find. A well thought-out collection with warm and cool tones that amplify both daytime and night makeup. The packaging is 25% recycled, has a mirror the size of the palette, and with 2 clickable QR (bar codes) for tips on how to use this palette. It comes with two makeup brushes for blending and smudging.

The eyeshadows are pigmented, soft, and buttery. There are eight shimmery shades and two mattes (Infinite & Evil Eye from “Night“). “Day” is an interplay of shimmery gold, copper and bronze hues which when applied and blended light-handedly creates a stunning sunset-like masterpiece. Balance is champagne-like; Energy is orange-gold; Fire is is brick orange; Galaxy is copper; Dark Magic is brown with tiny gold flecks. “Night” brings a different side of smokey look. Infinite is navy blue with flecks of gold; Evil eye is gray  with bronze flecks; Empyrean is teal; Celestial is purple; Twilight is dusky silver. My personal favorites are Energy & Galaxy from “Day”; Empyrean, Evil Eye and Infinite from “Night”. Used with an eye primer, these eyeshadows lasted eight hours without creasing.

Moi in “Day”. And yes, I wore this at work.

in “Night”. Somebody wants to partayyyy!
….You can tone down this look with nude lips

Over-all thoughts: 4.5/ 5 A definite must-try. The color combos are fantabulous and the application is seamless. The bonus brushes are so-so quality, not the best kind but good enough to include in your growing collection.

xoxo
