Moi wore Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor (Think Pink) today~ and guess what, it was among the 400 lipsticks found to contain lead, based on US-FDA’s recent report. Oh-em-gee!
Although these lipsticks don’t pose a threat to public safety (plenty from L’Oreal, MAC, Revlon, Maybelline, NARS, Cover Girl, Dior, Lancome, etc.), the FDA is now considering to recommend the lead level limit in lipsticks in order to protect the consumers.

In the US, cosmetic products and ingredients (excluding color additives) are not subject to FDA approval prior to market launch. In short, manufacturers (big or small) can use any ingredient and sell without FDA’s consent. So that leaves the undiscerning consumer with self-regulation. Boo! #caveat

i really am concern about these issues.. just today i read about make ups, not just lipsticks, having chemicals like arsenic! even high end products like mac and benefit has it! really disturbing… 🙁

Yes, it's quite disturbing because the ingredients used by the cosmetics companies are not regulated by the US-FDA here. Recalls are only done when harm has been verified and documented. Sigh!
