It’s just the start of 2012 but I’d bet that this year’s best new drugstore product maybe is… Maybelline’s Color Tattoo. I’m a Thomas when it comes to claims ~ I keep mum ’til I get my hands on over-hyped products.
But now it can be told. I am impressed and I’m a Maybelline convert.
I bought these beauties online when Ulta was running a buy-one-get-one-50%-off on Maybelline products (it’s over now ladies * sad face*). Last weekend, I saw these at Target retailing for $5.99 each.
I chose four out of the ten available shades.
05 Too Cool is shimmer pearl white |
30 Pomegranate Punk is shimmer maroon-purple |
45 Bold Gold is shimmer yellow gold |
15 Audacious Asphalt is shimmer silver-gray |
These are packaged in small glass pots, and each contains about .14 oz 4 g of product. The most ideal way to use this eyeshadow cream is to apply and blend it with a ring finger. It glides smoothly to my amazement, yay! I used this on top of an eye primer and I tested it two ways: (1) on its own or no eyeshadow on top (2) with eyeshadow on top. Lo and behold ~ both ways lasted long, with no obvious creasing even on the 6th hour (a feat for someone with oily lids like me). The only difference is the vibrance of color when topped with an eyeshadow, isn’t that impressive? As to the promise of 24 hours? I didn’t push it further because I can’t snooze with makeup on. But anything that withstands heat and grease for 12 hours on me is a definite i-love-it!
Pomegranate punk on its own (over eye primer) |
Over-all rating: a resounding 5/5. I’m picking up a few more shades to play with.
