Decoding the jargon. Microdermabrasion is simply a type of exfoliation that utilizes very fine crystals (or other medium) to scrape the topmost layer of skin so that the products used for specific skin issues can penetrate better. It makes skin softer and helps reduce breakouts. Microdermabrasion can be done at home although it’s not as intensive as those performed in-office. At-home microdermabrasion uses either cream or machine. Microdermabrasion in cream formulations are the most popular ones and depending on the brand, the price is anywhere between $10- $100+.

On to my skin dilemma > occasional breakouts > mega- greasy face > open pores. I have searched high and low for that holy grail so I don’t mind unlocking my beauty vault to anything that promises to address those. I have been using this Fruit Enzyme for almost a month now at 3-4 times a week ( or every other day) and I must say, I am pleased with the results from this virtually unknown brand!
How I use it: (dime-sized portion) I rub this cream very gently onto my face using fingertips at 20 seconds interval i.e 20 secs for nose, 20 secs for cheeks, etc. |
Sold by Naturalskinshop (an online store specializing in medical grade, paraben-free and cruelty-free skincare products), Fruit Enzyme is one of those brands that don’t rely on heavy marketing tactics but word-of-mouth from satisfied customers who were possibly converts of department or drugstore brands. Count moi in.
Tacky packaging aside, this microdermabrasion cream has a slight fruity scent packed with fine aluminum oxide crystals. The crystals are so dense you can really feel them when rubbed against the skin. It also contains natural fruit extracts that are known to boost skin’s dull appearance. After rinsing with water, my face feels softer and looks brighter. I use this in conjunction with a different brand toner and night serum and although I can’t attribute having lesser breakouts from this product alone, the result is similar if not better to some of the high-end brands I have used in the past.
Over-all rating : 4/5 Must try. The price is in the mid-range and at 60ml per jar, this can last me 4 months at the most.
