I like value gift sets, both as a giver and recipient. As a giver, I mix and match it with other pieces from another gift set to create a more personalized hodgepodge of brands a girl would love. As a recipient, I get to try brands at deluxe sizes which help me decide if they deserve a full-size repurchase down the line. But wouldn’t you love the idea of owning or giving a value set that has full-sized products? Fab and frugal mind prancin’!
Better late than never. This gift set I am liking at the moment is part of CARGO’s Mediterranean Summer Collection. But who says a full-sized blush, eyeshadow, and mascara plus deluxe- sized eyeliner and lip gloss in gorgeous packaging and color can only be used for a particular season? Surely not moi.
Sold for only $34 at Macy’s, this gift set is an $89 value (the full- sized blush alone is $26 so this set is definitely a bang for your buck!)
|Throw in a foundation and you’re all set, Ms. Fabulous!|
|I rarely ogle on makeup bags because they all look generic.
This one stood out from the sea of sameness.
P.S. I miss you, SWAK- can you tell I’m a hopeful romantic belle?
|Romantico! Replica painting at the back. Can you spot the embossed-stitched boat?
This lil addition melts my heart….
There’s no denying that I love Cargo blushes. The pigmentation is true to the pan and it lasts long enough for me, about 5-6 hours on a greasy face. Again, the online image from Macy’s is deceitful. Click on the color Mendocino and it’ll show up a dark maroon shade. Now compare it with this photo taken under natural daylight.
|Mendocino is berry-mauve (imagine deep rose or dark pink)
with slight shimmer that gives moi that healthy illuminating aura…
|Apply it light-handedly to create a more natural
|Deluxe-sized waterproof eyeliner (Electric teal) & lip gloss (Morocco)|
To say that I like this eyeliner is an understatement. I love it! Cargo’s Swimmable eyeliner is really water-proof. The ultimate test is water-splashing my peepers! Lo, it didn’t smudge or melt. The lip gloss is non-sticky and has the same shade as Mendocino, deep rose.
|Full-sized eyeshadow duo in shimmer copper and gold.|
Of these two shades, I like the copper better. It applies and blends smoothly and effortlessly. Gold is quite a turn off, it’s a little chalky with some fallouts. Not being finicky though, it could have been the perfect combo for me!
|Full-sized mascara (Black), 10ml/ 0.33 fl oz.|
Straight up I’d say this mascara ain’t waterproof to me. My water-splashing test resulted to slight smudging of my bottom lashes. This is a good everyday mascara but not on a day out on the beach. I like how it gave my boring lashes quite a flirty side- enough to tell someone ‘Ey I’m talking to you!
My two cents worth: 5/5 . The chalky gold eyeshadow is pardonable. I am in love with the blush-on and eyeliner. The mascara being full-sized is a bonus! Give this to me and I’d smother you with kisses. Wait, I bought this already.
Moi time. How do these products look when used all at the same time ? Be my fabulous judge…
