I bet every skincare or fragrance enthusiast owns at least one Philosophy product. I love their line of bath and shower gels, and Amazing Grace is one of my favorite scents . They make nice holiday gift sets and if you are a Sephora Beauty Insider, you get a complimentary shower gel on your birthday.
In my quest to try natural-based makeups, my recent trip to Sephora led me to the hardly-noticeable shelf of Philosophy makeups. As I was browsing, my eyes were glued to this super-lenghty-title The Supernatural Superbeautiful Superhealthy Hybrid Makeup SPF20. Superfluous over-claims are the only words that entered my discerning mind.
|So is it Supernatural or Superbeautiful? Superlative degree to the nth power?!|
Hybrid? As intriguing as it sounds, I read the label furthermore. This product is free from parabens, phtalates, mineral oil, talc, sulfate, fragrance, and propylene glycol- just some of the harmful ingredients present in other cosmetics. Could this be the holy grail?
As if it wasn’t enough, it has SPF 20 and doubles as a moisturizer. So what is this exactly? It is a liquid foundation which gives sheer and buildable coverage with a natural-looking finish. Finally I got the point!
The formula is very light and akin to a tinted moisturizer. It has no annoying sunscreen scent. Call it psychological but my face felt light with this foundation. I did not have breakouts which I consider the ultimate test because I am really prone to acne. The staying power is a good six hours (without face primer).
|Available in six shades. My shade is beige|
|This is how it looked when blended|
|I skipped face primer and moisturizer. To mattify, I used a
natural-based pressed powder (100% Pure)
- Natural-based; ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin
- Multi-tasking product: moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation
- Natural yet buildable finish
- Quite pricey, $30 at philosophy.com HOWEVER I only paid $12 at Sephora!!!!
- Isn’t long-wearing (although a good alternative to use on short engagements i.e errands, quick meet-ups)
Over-all rating: 5/5 I love it!
