If you have oily, acne-prone and combination skin, you may or may not know that activated charcoal carries a gamut of benefits; reason being, it does a great job of purging impurities, clearing out congested pores and getting rid of pollutants. Activated charcoal simply means that it was heated and/or processed to increase its adsorptive capability. By definition, adsorption happens when molecule(s) adhere to the surface. So using chemistry's simplistic parallelism, imagine all the dirt and gunk adhering to the adsorbent, charcoal that is. I had the opportunity to try some products (with activated charcoal) from derma|e, a natural skincare company with surprisingly affordable products to boot. Scroll down for full details!

What is makeup for a certain age? if we're talking 40+, I'd say stick with light coverage and dewy finish if you have normal to dry skin. Unless you are attending a red carpet event which requires heavy-duty makeup, tinted makeup with built-in sun protection and hydration is the way to go. The logic is simple: the more you pile up crap, the more you emphasize wrinkles, sagging and enlarged pores. In contrast, barely-there makeup with strategic highlighting (read: nothing overboard) lifts the face and creates an illusion of youthful look. Yes, you are never too old to enjoy a little highlight. With that said, let me share with you two anti-aging makeup tricks using LifeCell products (1) dewy skin without looking extra greasy (2) plump lips you thought you never had.

"You don't need Botox" said hubs. "But you don't have wrinkles" said a couple of friends when I told them about it. Regardless what they said, it's done and over with. An after-the fact statement. Less than five minutes and 12 units later, this woman is tippy-toe happy with the result.

Ask me about beauty oils several years ago and I'd shun at the idea, not with my overly greasy and acne-prone skin! But fast forward today and with age creeping up, what used to be animosity has metamorphosed to praise. A love affair borne out of long courtship. So without further ado, I present to you some of my favorite beauty oils and their promising skin benefits:

Skincare aficionados know that glycolic acid is one of the most common and safest ingredients (when used in lower concentration) in treating oily and/or acne-prone skin as well as fine lines and uneven skin tone. Part of the AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) family, it's naturally sourced from sugar cane. It acts by sloughing away dead skin cells, purging impurities, and keeping oil at bay. I am not new to glycolic peels (I've done both in-clinic and at-home in the past) so my experience with Ellen Lange Retexturizing Peel will differ compared to a first-timer. I had to preface my post with this disclaimer because as with other products, it's different strokes for different folks!

So what do you do when you have tons of lipsticks? wear 'em all! But seriously, wearing at least two shades give lips a different dimension and updated look. The techniques aren't rocket-science; in fact, you can find so many tutorials shared via social media. Ready for my take? scroll down for a quick tutorial.

I was really adamant to publish this post not because it isn't important but simply, the photo below isn't cutting it for me. Brain constipation, creativity slacking. I know a re-shoot is the answer but last weekend, I de-stashed again and part of the ginormous throw-aways included the plastic bag which contained these empties. But then again, why even stage products that are about to be thrown away? oh well, husband says I tend to over-analyze things so let's cut to the chase, shall we?
