Second to hot pink, coral is a lovely color to rock for spring and summer. It's fun, vibrant and warm. I own probably three coral lippies and they're all matte so I'm on the hunt for a more office-friendly a.k.a conservative coral-ish shade (conservative?! does that even exist in my vocabulary?). Sheen, sheer, barely-there? Make up your mind woman!

Korres is one of my go-to brands for natural-looking makeups. It's for the simple Jane who likes a sheer wash of color to brighten her au naturel fez. Yeah, believe me when I say that there are days I want to be plain. And simple. Period.

Korres mango butter lipstick in coral ($18, Sephora) is described as sheer with high-shine finish. With "butter" in the ingredients, it's hydrating like your trusted lip balm. I see mango oil, now that explains the product name.

Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 , Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Beeswax, Vegetable Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Extract, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Flavor, Silica, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Methyl Di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Tin Oxide, May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Iron Oxides, Red 7 Lake,
Yellow 5 Lake, Red 6, Yellow 6 Lake, Blue 1 Lake, Carmine

Color-wise, this particular shade is coral-pink, not vibrant coral as described in Sephora website. Needless to say, it's not marketed as long-wearing so reapplication is required, pro re nata.

plain jane is in the house, woot woot!

  • Take me to Moroccan dunes. Engulf me with all your might. Oh my Sonia you're bursting with delight!

So I spotted this limited edition eyeshadow palette from Target ($16.99) and felt that it's going to be love at first sight. Hunch was right.

Metallic, baked, sheen, what art thou? This limited edition quad is from Sonia Kashuk's spring '13 collection. If you're anything like me who stalks beauty aisles for new releases, I bet you won't miss this palette, what with its neutral metallic appeal!

First off, I must say that the packaging looks classy, 'kind of high-end feel.

The formula is a tad dry but pigmented. Needless to say, tapping the eyeshadow brush and pressing it on the lids (as opposed to sweeping motion) will prevent unsightly fallouts. Also, using your trusted eye primer like Lorac behind the scenes will guarantee a smudge-free makeup throughout the day.

a quad-full of rose, coppery, chocolatey metallics
And so it survived an intense dance workout, whew!
Face has gone oily, pits were sweaty.
    But eyes, oh my golly!

Day or night, there's something sexy about metallics.

    Get it before it's gone,

In my early 20s, you can let me walk in stilettos whole day. I would sacrifice comfort for the sake of fashion, that's how much of a heel-whore I was. But see my feet don't have that stamina anymore, and in my new career now where sneakers are more of a necessity, I can't stand or walk in heels for hours without my feet crying for help. SOS. Save our soles!

Enter Kushyfoot and let's focus on the acclaimed cushion wonders of this product.

So these are not socks but foot covers that are supposed to comfort feet. They're padded and are meant to be used indoors and on smooth surfaces; say in the office while prepping your powerpoint slides or in the car after a girls' night out. One pack has 2 pairs of foot covers- one trendy, one classic (one size fits all). Retailing for less than $5/ pack, it's a steal for the weary feet.

Where to buy? most retailers nationwide.

I have two extra packs to share with you. This is a random and quickie giveaway open to TheFabZilla subscribers only. Read giveaway rules here and wait for the rafflecopter widget to load. One winner, open international.

  • Wowza! I can't believe this is my fourth batch of consuming products down to their last drop. It's hard to resist the temptation of impulse-buying, specially if you're a beauty junkayyy; so on that note, let me pat my own shoulders- who else will jeez?

I have reviewed Dermorganic previously. It sounds like a face product but really it's for your hair dahlings! If you are  into organic products, then this shampoo and conditioner combo is made for you. Devoid of strong fragrance, parabens, SLS and other harmful chemicals, Dermorganic keeps your mane healthy.

Another hair product I finished but not happy about is Organix awapuhi ginger instant recovery mask. It's supposed to soften dry hair with keratin proteins. So I used it several times as a deep conditioning mask (after shampoo, leave on for 3-5 minutes, rinse). I didn't see anything spectacular or buzz-worthy at all. Disappointed is an understatement. Organix is my go-to drugstore haircare brand ( I like their tea tree!) but this awapuhi so-so mask left an awful ginger taste in my vernac.

I am a fan of Jurlique and rosewater balancing mist is one of my faves.  It's my toner and makeup setting spray in one. A 'lil pricey but well worth it.

Whenever I go to CVS (Long's) or Target, I always pick up Burts Bee's facial cleansing wipes. It's gentle, opthalmologist-tested and affordable!

I haven't met any woman who doesn't know or own a thing or two from Bath and Body Works. I like the Aruba coconut body lotion from their 2013 escape collection. Living in Hawaii and smelling like coconut, paradise much?

Classic and ethereal. Some days are effortless, some days are doomed. You start with a thin line and finish with wonky eyes. Tricky but forever adorable. Get mesmerized with cat- eyes!

How-to cat- eyes is one of the most- searched makeup technique. That is why I'm not going to repeat what you have already read bajillion times. All it takes is practice and hmmmm.... steady hands, which unfortunately I don't have. So believe me when I say that much as I love cat -eyes, there are days that I can't do it seamlessly. #rushhour

So enough of the blabber and let me show how you can quickly update your cat- eyes for spring and summer. If you want to see how I wing it using an eyeliner, I made a tutorial here ~> take a look!

Now bring out any pastel eyeshadows in your makeup stash. I like lime green and lavender together, for some reason they remind me of gelato, yum!

Smudge lavender on lower lash line then line top of cat- eyes using lime green eyeshadow (optional: mist your angled eyeliner brush with makeup setting spray for a more vibrant line). Finish with two coats of mascara or false eyelashes.

    1. Create cat-eyes
    2. Smudge lower lash line with lavender e/s
    3. Line top of cat-eyes with lime green

I lurvee my long hair but hate the pricey maintenance. Few days before New Year's, I changed my hair color, had highlights and bangs. So I haven't been back to the salon since then; reason being, this woman thought she could do the touch-ups herself. Why not? few hundred bucks saved means more moolah goes to the woman cave renovation fund (a.k.a makeup room/ home office).

Anyhoo, I received this AVA protective hair oil treatment and styling aid from Planet Beauty, a high-end beauty boutique in California (they also sell online). Perfect timing, I needed hot oil treatment! But wait, it also protects hair from hot styling tools. And it's cruelty-free. And it's free from parabens and sulfates. And it's for all hair types. And it's natural. So how do you use it then?

As a styling aid: Rub a small amount of products into hands. Apply to damp hair starting from ends up and style as usual.

As an oil treatment: Use 1-2 times a week; apply liberally to dry hair, leave on for ten minutes and rinse as usual.

I can write a thousand words but a before and after photo can better articulate what I have to say:

Before: When I say out of bed hair, it literally is. So that's moi in my PJ's! My natural hair is wavy and a tad dry. And yeah that's how it looks when brushed.

After: I seldom use styling tools but for the purpose of this post, I did use my ghd styler to straighten my hair plus the AVA oil. I wish there's a way you can sniff my hair but it does smell good with AVA! While the shine isn't noticeable enough, I can tell you without batting an eyelash that my hair feels lighter... and tangle-free!

    #selfie

Here's another one-brand makeup look, this time I decided to be a Tarte Sweetheart. No, not the please-vote-for-me-type-so-I-can-fly-to-NYC. It's the petty Face of the Day because-I-want-to-sort-of-thing. Now that you understand the insanity, let me show the products I used:

    1. Gifted Amazonian Clay mascara and multiplEYE Lash Primer. Those eyelashes don't lie, check out my full review for the hardcore evidence.

    2.  Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. It's a love-hate thingie for this product. I love its creaminess and ease of application but hate that the tube I purchased felt like half-cream, half-air. Yeah it feels empty. Factory defect? probably but see I'm not good at returning so I kept it for memory sake.

    3. Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder (bronzer). I like the little nice sun-kissed glow it gives my fez.

    4. Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation.  Undoubtedly one of my top foundys all year round. It suits my icky greasy face well.

    5. Picture Perfect Eyelash curler. Not the best eyelash curler known to womankind but I hold on to it like your raggedy doll.

    6. Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush (Natural Beauty). Again one of my tarte staples. This blush is uberly pigmented you need a light hand to apply it.

    7. Amazonian Clay eyeshadow palette. Great for everyday wear. Want to be a sweetheart? try tarte. #selfie

    8. EmphasEYES eye liner. One of the worst and driest I've tried in my whole existence. I got it from a gift set so who am I to whine. But I made a pact with myself not to buy this evah!

    9. Buffer Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush. It looks deformed in the photo because I just used it my dear! But seriously, it applies smooth and even. And since it's a monster of a brush, buffing and blending are easy peasy.

Macro view of the frickin' dry eyeliner; hard to maneuver thus the smudge!

I realized I only have 1 tarte lippy and it doesn't jive with the whole vibe.
I used a different brand instead.
Note to self: go buy Aqualilies next time!

    What's your favorite from tarte?

This is probably the nth time you will read about my skin issues- acne and aging. Yeah what a powerful combo nuisance! But I'm not going to sit and whine about it por favor. I have dealt with zits long enough so winning over wrinkles is easy peasy. Wishful thinking, ahyayyay! So weeks ago, I received some skincare products from Jurlique, two of which are anti-aging from the company's Herbal Recovery line.

Let's start with Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Gel Mask ($48, 100ml).

What the website says: "A hydrating and revitalizing high performance gel mask infused with antioxidant beads that release Vitamin E to help address the first signs of aging and protect the skin against environmental aggressors. Leaves skin feeling hydrated and looking radiant. Leaves skin feeling smooth and nourished".

Ingredients: Water/ Aqua/Eau Glycerin Saccharide Isomerate Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Seed Extract Mannitol Cellulose Hydroxypropyl Methycellulose Tocopheryl Acetate Xanthan Gum Microcrystalline Cellulose Cellulose Gum Carageenan Glucose Salix Nigra (Willow) Extract Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract Viola Tricolor Extract Viola Odorata Extract Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract Rosa Gallica Flower Extract Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract SD Alcohol 40-A Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide Dehydroacetic Acid Sea Salt Ascorbic Acid Benzyl Alcohol Phenoxyethanol Rose Flower Oil Citronellol Geraniol Linalool Eugenol Limonene
    *From natural essence oil

You may or not know that I have insane addiction with face masks. In fact, I have one on as I type these very words, for realz

This mask is one of the gentlest I've tried. It smells herbal (as the name suggests) and feels smooth on my face. It has tiny fennel seeds that are supposed to add hydration to skin. Whether that's fact or fiction, I had to say those ten minutes surely felt like spa mah dahlings!

Next is Herbal Recovery Gel ($50, 30ml), an antioxidant serum that helps revive, restore and protect skin.

What the website claims "A high performance antioxidant serum, rich in powerful botanicals and plant oils to help reduce fine lines, dryness and dullness to help increase skin elasticity, hydration and radiance, while protecting against environmental aggressors. Leaves skin feeling smooth, supple, hydrated and looking radiant".

Okay, skip Harlem but you have to shake the bottle to mix all concoctions inside. This serum feels light and has a slight cooling sensation upon application. So after toning, I apply this serum then a moisturizer after. Sounds like a lot of work but if you're a skincare enthusiast then you get the point.

As in my previous skincare posts, we all have different reactions to ingredients. What works for me may not for you and vice versa. While I didn't experience skin irritation from these products, it's noteworthy to mention that herbal-based skincare is a personal preference.

You can buy these products or the complete Herbal Recovery line at Jurlique website, Sephora or Dermstore.

    Have you tried Jurlique?

    Gifted

You know when it's raining yet the sun is out? a half-man, half-horse is getting married. That's Philippine folklore. Ever had a visitor in your home who kept saying she will leave yet stays? She could be a witch. That's Portuguese folklore. Don't piss Pele, goddess of volcano or she will spew lava. That's Hawaiian folklore. Passed from one generation to the next, folklores are as old as human race. Vampires you said? see you at the movies.

Folklore is the subject of Laura Mercier's Summer 2013 collection. Inspired by the Aztec civilization, this collection features bold earthy tones perfect for the summer. Or spring. Or fall. Or Winter. I say so because the shades are all-encompassing, particularly these eye shadow and lip crayon my fairy glam mama unknowingly gave me...

Illuminating Eye Color (Sun Glow), $24, 2.5 g/ 0.09 oz.

Available in three shades, let Sun Glow cast its spell on you. With a luminous warm gold pearl finish, I prefer to apply this eyeshadow damp for a more vibrant look.

Don't dare look or you turn into a three-eyed frog!
    That's TheFabZilla folklore.

With its enchanting stance, I command this lip crayon (called Folklore) to suck the blood out of you.

    Lip Crayon (Folklore), $22, 2.70 g/0.09 oz

Also available in three colors, Folklore is hot pink sans the screaming factor. Meaning, it's totally wearable even if you're the neutral girl- type. The packaging reminds me of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. It is soft and quite hydrating on the lips but not as long-wearing as I expected it to be.

Wear hot pink to make your dreams come true!
    Oh yeah that's TheFabZilla folklore.

Solve the riddle or get lost in the labyrinth of misfortune! Neither a witch nor half-horse but she can fight the green-eyed monster with her what?

Moi wearing Sun Glow eyeshadow and Folklore lip crayon.

You can purchase these or the entire collection from Laura Mercier or Nordstrom where I got mine.

    Still solving the riddle?
