Color Quench Lip Tint
0.15 oz/ 4.26 g, $7.99 each (Target)
Blood Orange, Coconut Nectar

If you love Pacifica, then you'll be delighted to know that it's now sold at Target stores near ya! Yep, I was excited to see these Color Quench Lip Tints, including body lotions, cleansing wipes, EDTs, and eyeshadow palette (swatch/review soon) by the end-cap, near Pixi aisle to be exact.

Call it perfect timing because I needed new lip balms so I picked up two shades (or flavors I must say), Blood Orange (orange-red) and Coconut Nectar (nude).

Love at first swipe! That's how blood orange floored me. It gives just the right amount of tint-stacle to my lips. Throughout nine hours, I had to retouch only once- and that's after a meal. It's hydrating, all-natural, paraben and cruelty-free, and 100% vegan.

Ingredients: coconut oil, avocado oil, candelila wax, glycine soja was, cocoa seed butter, all-natural flavor, vitamin e, rosemary leaf extract.

Not a big fan of coconut nectar (doesn't smell like one) but it's okay, I use it anyway for night time lip hydration.

With that said, you guess this 'zilla's going back to Target for more lip tints #loveitismydear

My hair has gone through extreme stages and for the most part neglect. From super cropped ala-pixi to vogue-ish bob, out-of-bed-don't-care, blonde to black, tight curls to flat. Wash, air-dry, hot oil only when I remember. If low maintenance equates to sheer laziness, then I apologize big time to my hair. Now that I know better, I vow to be more conscious of products I use and treatments I try.

Hairstyle through the years.
Don't be deceived, it's the same woman!

So I had the opportunity to try some hair care products that are close to home. And I mean it literally. As you may or may not know, popular stylist and salon owner Paul Brown is from Hawaii. Named after Hapuna Bay, known to have botanically perfect ecosystem on the planet, and where native Hawaiians would travel to experience positive energy, the Paul Brown Hawaii Hapuna Haircare System promise to give hair a perfect balance of protein, moisture, increased strength and shine.

Cruelty-free, sulfate and paraben-free, exactly the formula I am looking for haircare products. So what's so special about them aside from transporting you to our beautiful islands the moment you jump in the shower?

You know me, I address fragrance in most products I review. If my snob nose says no can't do, it's no (pidgin' talk style auntie). Girl, this shampoo and conditioner combo smell a-h-m-a-z-i-n-g to the nth degree. It makes ordinary bathing feel nirvana.  I definitely noticed a big difference in my hair's texture. It's softer, more manageable, and I can actually run my fingers thru my hair. That's a whole lot from someone who struggles with tangles!

Anti-Freeze Shampoo & Conditioner Key Ingredients: Paul Brown Hawaii proprietary Hawaiian Protein Flora Complex, Tea tree oil, kukui nut oil, aloe vera.

Now comes my other favorite from this set- Argan Oil with Kukui Nut Lipids Finishing Shine Serum. So with my hair still damp, I pump the bottle twice and apply a small amount from my roots to tips. I also use this in the morning and just before I sleep to give my hair that extra boost of shine (yeah vanity runs in my arteries, hahaha).

Where to buy this awesomeness then? It's sold in most salons dahlings! But to be sure, here's the list. You may find one near you.

Traveling to Hawaii? come visit Paul Brown salons

Oki, am off to dreamland now.

Well contrary to Fergie's song big girls don't cry, we do but only for a while; and for trivial matters at that! We cry when a poor yet talented girl goes to Hollywood for American Idol.  We cry when we see someone crying. But before you and I sign up for the ultimate lacrimal gland-fest, let's proceed to mah review that's nothing but melodramatic.

First, huge mahalo's to my blogger friend Moxie from Moxie Reviews for snagging these Fergie shimmer palettes for me!

So what are these Fergie palettes if you may ask? Label says "these perfectly-coordinated baked trios provide an instant glimmer of color for a glowing complexion. The baked technology can be worn wet or dry and delivers high-pearl and high- pigment for an extra reflective finish. Big girls don't shy away from a little sparkle!

Carnaval in Rio: bronze, gold, brown
Rose Champagne Glow: champagne, pink gold
Rose Golden Goddess: bronze, peach, gold
Natural lighting/no flash
So I have open pores, will these magnify the craters from Mars? Which is better, wet or dry application? Are these highlighters, bronzers or blush? Let the Dutchess ~> Fergie <~ speak.

Packaging-wise, it's big. At $5.99, you're getting 0.4 oz/11.3 g of shimmers. The texture is a bit dry but it's easy to blend and buff. It's fragrance-free, so that's a plus for moi who deplores the signature grandma- drugstore- face- powder- smell.

As a highlighter, Rose Champagne Glow is the most-universally appealing; Carnaval in Rio works best as a bronzer; Rose Golden Goddess as a blush. But you know one thing, all these can be used as eyeshadows too! I also prefer to apply them wet (damp brush) for instant vibrance. Need proof?

applied with damp brush

So do I like it? Surprisingly yes! I didn't feel that it exaggerated my pores or made my face look greasier. The shimmer factor isn't screaming right in your face. Following a disappointing review on Wet n Wild Fergie eyeshadows, I'll give this a positive F: Fabulous! and I mean it to the core.

How do these shimmer palettes appeal to you?

$5.99 each, Walgreens

"I didn't know Sarah Ferguson has makeup line", thus said my mother who went on a special mission to find me some Fergie Wet n Wild. Hahahaha! my beastly laughter resonated. How cute is my ma-dear for not knowing Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas fame. Oh I forgot, she's 62! But see, if not for her, I wouldn't be able to swatch these eyeshadows (can't find 'em here in Hawaii).

So are these Wet n Wild Fergie eyeshadows from the centerstage collection worth all the hype? Let's boom boom pow!

If you like Wet n Wild coloricon eyeshadows' buttery texture and superb pigmentation, you will find these rather dry, chalky and a bit harder to blend. While swatches produced nice color pay-off, they're actually flat to my makeup vernac.

Desert Festival has two mattes (burnt orange & dark brown), one sheen (beige) and two shimmers (bronze & brown-black). I prefer applying it wet to force (and I mean it literally) it to be vibrant. Used with an eye primer, it did last a good eight hours with minimal fading.

dry as desert!

Maldives Sky is beautiful....from the pan only. It has one matte (gray) and four sheens (mint,  teal, purple and blue). Wet or dry technique, it doesn't make a difference at all. Blend it and the color is gone. So yeah I had to reapply 4-5 times to make the colors pop. It fades big time, byebye after four hours.

The sky is shy!

I doubt if Fergie herself will like the quality of these eyeshadows. Did she even pay attention or at least swatched some before it went to production? Money speaks so probably she won't care. Oh I get it, she's a singer not a makeup connoisseur.

Obviously Wet n Wild did some formula-tweaking to differentiate this line from the coloricon staples. But why reinvent the will if ain't broke? Me no likey. True to its F logo, it's a Fail.

  • When you're a makeup junkaayyy, more so a beauty blogger, the toughest challenge known to mankind is to consume a product down to its very last drop. Okay, it's hyperbole but smart as you are, you get what I mean. With tons of products we are testing, trying or impulsively buying, we end up with shit loadzz. I was actually surprised to have come this far. Empties, for real! So which ones deserve a repurchase?

Third tube. Yep, that's how much I love Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation ($38). It's light as air and works well with my oily skin. This time I ordered it thru QVC because it comes with  a free buffing brush, a $32-value. Great deal I must say!

Reordered. I reviewed MDSolarSciences Mineral Sunscreen Tinted Gel SPF30 ($23.95) few months ago. It feels like silk on skin, has no disgusting sunscreen scent, and most of all, it performs like a primer to me. I love how it fills and blurs my open pores. I placed my order direct via MDSolarSciences because they offer free shipping in all products!

Deferred. I like Jurlique Citrus Purifying Mist but I have three more toners sitting in my vanity. Waste not want not. I'll buy when I finish the others.

Not buying. Tarte eye primer is not bad but I have a new favorite, the LORAC behind the scenes. Plus I have five more eye primers which I am trying to use up. #happyproblem

What about you? what products have you bought many times over?

    'Til my next empties beauties!

Wearing bronzer knows no season, at least in my makeup routine. What about you? Do you skip it during winter time? I don't! I speak as if the mighty sun ever hibernates here in Hawaii. But you get my point, my medium skin tone lacks warmth sans bronzer.

Milani is a drugstore brand I am slowly getting into. Happy with their mascara and liquid eyeliner, I bought this bronzer to see if it continues to earn a spot in my vanity.

    #01 Bronze Glow
    0.42 oz/ 12g, About $9, Walmart

Tan-in-a-pan for all skin types! That's what the packaging says beauties. And it's indeed XL, as big as my palm! Squint a little dahling and you'll see specks of shimmer on both sides.

Talc, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zeolite, Sorbic Acid, Methylparaben, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Propylparaben, Tetrasodium Edta, Butylparaben, Fragrance (Parfum), Bht, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract.+/- May Contain: Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Carmine (CI 75470), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77289), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77288), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 30 Lake (CI 73360), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090).

So how d'ya like the bronze(r) woman? Ugh! that signature drugstore face powder smell, the very one I so despise. Yeah the grandma scent *insert sad face here*. Available in only two shades, I picked up #01 (Bronze Glow) wild-guessing that it would give me just the right amount of glow. Nothing dramatic compared to #02 Fake Tan which looks way darker from the pan.

Oompa Loompa Level Alert! Apply it light-handedly or you risk looking more orangey than glowy! The darker shade is to be blamed for my demi-oompa in the first photo above. I used it to contour my sides and the lighter shade for my cheeks.

Oompa no more. I only used the lighter shade this time.
Reading between the lines, your guess is as good as mine. Nice try but definitely not repurchasing.

Have you tried this one yet?

Okay a lil story time. T'was early 2000, when my face was sabotaged by acne. I wanted to hide the flaws badly so I decided to amp up my beauty routine. VMV, MAC and Laura Mercier were my go-to foundations then. While they did give me the camouflage I needed, it was for a very short time, two hours at the most. I was constantly retouching with a pressed powder. My makeup bag can pass for a vanity counter with the amount of cosmetics (powders, blush, etc.) in it. Reason being, nothing lasts on my genetically greasy face.

Fast forward to present-day triviality. If you are still wondering why a makeup won't even get you thru the fourth hour, maybe you're missing something in your arsenal. Can I just say that ever since I discovered the wonders of a face primer, my makeup bag was downsized to bare minimum? Save for occasional blotting, I hardly retouch with a pressed powder anymore. #truth

So let's touch base on the real subject matter- a face primer that I recently tried from Too Faced. Oil-free and sensitive skin, two powerful claims that tickled my fancy. Ready to dissect?

    $30, 1 oz, Sephora

Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polysilicone-11, Nylon-12, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Polysorbate 40, Isohexadecane, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Disiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract, Oleanolic Acid, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cycloheptasiloxane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cyclodextrin, Polysorbate 20, Retinol, BHT, BHA.

Dimethicone is a popular ingredient in face primers because it forms a protective barrier on the skin. It can also fill in lines and pores on the face and helps makeup last longer. Having said that, this Too Faced primer did deliver. My makeup was intact way past eight hours. It's noteworthy to say that I didn't have to use a separate pore filler, which is always a great thing!

Now comes the downside. Much as I love that it's made for oily and sensitive skin, I don't like the smell. It's not awfully bad but my picky nose isn't a fan of the slightly chemical scent. I'm smelling hints of clorox, yeah that's how I associate the scent. So that breaks the deal for me! Not buying it again.

    What's your favorite face primer?

    *purchased this*

Ever wonder why I rarely show my teeth in photos? For one, my face looks disfigured when I show my teeth, #notmybest. Second, I'm a tad conscious because my teeth are not perfectly aligned. I have discussed this with my dentist, and that would require some extraction and brace. I'm kind of old to handle the pain and whatnot. So there, I'm learning to love my flaw. Add the oily face, sheez!

Crooked as they are, there's one thing I don't want them to experience. Ever. What good is a nice and expensive lippy when teeth are....

fake yellow teeth; color-manipulated for visualization purposes

You get what I mean? C'mon, not even the brightest red lipstick, smokiest eye makeup, and flashiest Louboutin can hide that yellow smile of shame! Love coffee and tea? ha, culprits to stain. Needless to say my friend, if you have not considered whitening at this point in your life, think again. And again.

So I had the opportunity to try Crest 3D White Strips (Whitening Power 4) that promise to bring noticeable white teeth after three days and full results in twenty days. Retailing for $49.99, this box has 20 treatments, each with one upper and one lower strip.

    1. Peel strip from backing liner
    2. Long strip is for upper teeth; short for lower teeth
    3. Apply gel side to teeth
    4. Wear for 30 minutes
    5. Remove, of course

How was the feeling? I did have transient tingling sensation (one tooth), but very minimal to say the least.
Is it safe to use? I can't speak for your teeth, but in general it is. That is if you don't overuse or wear the strip more than the recommended amount of time.
How long will this last? Per instructions, after 20 days of religious use, effects can last for a year. Not bad!
HubZilla tried it too, how was his experience? There's a noticeable difference in his teeth after the first use. He had no sensitivity issues, quote unquote.

I'm no teeth expert so I won't bore you with facts that you probably know already. Brush & floss after meals.

    Smile you're on cam!
flash those real teeth, who cares!

Have you tried Crest or other teeth whitening products? how was your experience?
