Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon 48 Ro(cocoa): Review, Photos

// Affiliate link //

This is the third installment of my Marc Jacobs Beauty product reviews. Last week, I raved about my fall-perfect lippy 208 Truth or Dare Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl; and weeks before that, I wrote my sheer disappointment with 202 The Tease Style Eye-Con No.7 Plush Shadow Palette.

Guess what's in store for your reading pleasure today? Love at first line with this Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in 48 Ro(cocoa)! Retailing for $25 (Sephora), I was instantly drawn to its shimmery bronze finish.

What it is: a waterproof, intense color, long-wearing gel crayon eyeliner.

Eyes don't lie. You can tell from the picture above that this eyeliner is indeed very creamy. Clumsy moi dropped it while taking photos. Geez, I almost cried when the tip was severely dented (so shallow I know, haha!). But seriously, if you like Urban Decay or Stila's tug-free formula, this retractable eyeliner is way better. Effortless is an understatement.

But you know what really impressed me? it's completely budge-free! While my mascara melts, what with the humid Hawaiian weather, this eyeliner stays on like magnet until I'm ready to wipe it off. It's noteworthy to mention that I didn't have eye irritation, and that's a huge plus from somebody who has very sensitive eyes.

I also experimented using this as an eyeshadow base. Boy I am in utter awe! Used with an eye primer underneath, it gave my eyeshadows more depth and intensity. It also didn't crease the whole time I was wearing it (average of ten hours).

So reading between the (lash) line, you can totally predict that this woman is stocking up on Marc Jacobs Highliner.

Have you tried this brand yet?

  2. This sounds awesome!

    I've had the same thing happen with a lipstick. Dented the tip before I got all my photos. Wanted to cry LOL.

  3. When I was at Sephora I had zero intention of buying an eyeliner - I swatched and didn't hesitate in buying it. Then I bought the navy online!! Great liners that really last.

  5. I'm wearing this again today but my point broke off so I tried to sharpen it and it broke in the sharpener. It made a huge mess. I'm disappointed that I can't get a sharp enough point on these. I love this color. Maybe I need to refrigerate it before I sharpen it again.

    1. Hi Marcia. This one has automatic sharpener (retractable). Yeah refrigerating it might help. Although this kind of eye pencil will never be pointed, it will always be round at the tip.

    1. This is a 3 yr-old post but if my memory serves me right, I smudged using ring finger then layered with eyeshadow using e/s brush then blended with crease brush
