Review: Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick Is Nothing But....

[Own Purchase]

This is the third installment of my Hourglass review. You can read my rave-views on Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation here and Ambient Lighting Powder there. Will this liquid lipstick make it a grand slam? Hold your breath!

in Canvas, a soft rose beige ($28, Sephora)
Available in nine shades, I settled for Canvas wishing it will be my perfect neutral lippy.

What the website says: "a richly pigmented and silky smooth matte lip color that delivers 14 hours of continuous wear without flaking or dryness; has skin-conditioning emollients, antioxidant fruit extracts, cili fruit, goji berry, Vitamins A,C & E to protect lips throughout the day"

Ingredients:
Isododecane, Bis-Hydroxylauryl Dimethicone/Dpi Copolymer, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dicalcium Phosphate, Silica, Alumina, Isoceteth-10, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, Rosa Roxburghi Fruit Extract, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Red 7 Lake (Ci 15850). May Contain (+/-): Red 6 (Ci 15850), Mica (Ci 77019), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, 77492, 77499), Red 28 Lake (Ci 45410), Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090).

Okay, seems lovely from a distance!

Up close, it's nothing but....

on top of Fresh lip balm (high end)

Ignore the facial hair please (I hardly alter photos to give you the real deal) But WTF is that unsightly flakiness on my upper lips? Of course I did apply lip balm, this has matte finish so I needed extra moisture! And yeah, I exfoliated too ha!

No, moi not giving up! This is no cheapo product, what about if I use a different lip balm, will the texture change?

on top of Everyday minerals lip balm (drugstore price)
Not that bad when partnered with a less than hydrating and cheap lip balm! But still you can tell that it is no way near silky and smooth! It's dry as desert. The color is gone after a meal so whoever said that this will last for 14 hours didn't eat all #overclaim

I initially wanted to return this liquid lippy to Sephora but decided to keep it for weirdness memory sake. You bet this woman ain't buying this liquid lipstick ever.

Have you tried this brand yet?

  3. I have that happen whenever I've balmed before a matte lippie. With the balm in the way, the product has no clean skin to cling to. Try it without a balm, it will work. ;)

  4. I hate any dry lip products. The best lip balm I have found is made my Premium Minerals and called LipSlikz in Clear. Not all lip balms work for me but this one does every time, for any dry lip product.

I love to read and reply to legit comments. Don't waste your time writing spammy messages, they are deleted anyways. But other than that, this is a super chill blog so say hi and speak your mind.
